Life goes on. I know it's a terrible situation but cancelling a series affects everyone from the owners to the hot dog vendors. It sounds cliche but I'm sure Skaggs would have wanted the games to go on.

It could be as simple as its part of the grieving process for the players. Often times for athletes, their escape from reality is their sport. they look at it as a break from the real world and to go out and do what Skaggs (or whoever, in this case Skaggs) would have wanted to do. What he loved to do.

At a point I'd rather play baseball, go to work, or do whatever it is I do instead of sitting around thinking about it.  I think those moments when you're alone with your thoughts would be the hardest and whether or not you take a day or five you're eventually going to have to deal with those moments.

Sometimes getting back to routine helps the process.  There is no one size fits all on how to grieve.

While I can agree int hr sense that Im not sure I want to even watch the game, if I was a player I think I would want to play... what else am I gona do besides site around and think about it.

Could simply just mean they wanted to wait until after the season had ended, and while it may be easy to think it's because something nefarious, it could simply be a privacy thing or the family deciding they did not want it to interfere with Tyler's teammates during the season, whatever the outcome.
