He unscrews a cap in order to get the contents out, and holds them in his hand long enough to show friends what's in his hand. 

I don't think I've ever done that with gum, putting them in a container that required a screw on cap or showing friends before putting the gum in my mouth.

Some humor is needed, but we do need to be careful how to convey it.   Definitely no humor related to Tyler, for darned sure

I can only imagine. I was driving to my doctor's office and it was tough enough to listen to on the radio.
