Texas RHP Tanner Witt could also be an interesting pick from what I’ve read.

Per Fangraphs: “Neto had an incredible statistical 2021, then reinforced that performance by hitting on Cape Cod, and again by hitting (checks notes) .407/.514/.769 (!) as a junior. He's a compact-framed, contact-oriented middle infielder from a smaller conference, but Neto gets the most out of his body by taking one of the more athletic, high-octane swings in the entire draft. He has a cartoonish leg kick and his hands load similarly to Javier Báez, and while Neto doesn't have quite the same all-world whip as Báez, he is a plus rotational athlete who hits some epic pull-side homers. The huge swing doesn't detract from Neto's feel for contact, though he does dial down his footwork with two strikes and becomes even tougher to make swing and miss. He swung and missed just 10 times all year with two strikes on him. A plus athlete, Neto does some acrobatic things at shortstop and when he puts his whole body into a throw, he appears to have plenty of arm for the left side. He goes out of his way to try to throw while he's on the run, and while Neto's effort level is admirable, he rarely makes anything look easy the way big league shortstops tend to. He has a non-zero shot to stay at short, but I feel more comfortable projecting him to second base. There's enough hit/power combination for Neto to be a first-division regular at second base.” https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2022-mlb-draft/summary?sort=-1,1&type=0&pg=0&pageitems=10000000000000

Fangraphs has Neto ranked #5.

It would likely cost Detmers+ but would be a huge boost for this year.

I couldn’t find any shortstops to compare him to. 3 largest contracts given to a shortstop over the age of 30: Alex Rodriguez (32) - 10 years, $275 mil Derek Jeter (36) - 3 years, $51 mil JJ Hardy (32) - 3 years, $40 mil https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/contracts/sort-value/shortstop/all-time/limit-100/ It will be interesting to see what he signs for given his age (relative) and the number of star shortstops on the market.

Ryan was one of the pieces I posted on the BTV board for the Angels to trade Cobb and Iglesias to the Rays for. Type of player I hope the team targets this summer. -

Justin Upton has hit the best of all the starting position players this spring. -
Thanks for posting the link yesterday. I spent quite some time looking for decent tickets to games I could go to, but I can’t justify the cost.
