Bourjos traded to Cardinals

Salas isn't awful but geeze you would expect more if you were giving up a guy like Grichuk and were already losing out on swapping Bourjos for Freese.

 

Put me on record as saying this trade is not good from day 1.

Ya Edmonds was injury prone and we traded him while his value was low.  How did that work out?

 

The logic isn't that different. The market was low for Edmonds cuz of his injury, we didn't have a second basemen and were in need of a pitcher.

After I've had a "Conversation" and heard of the lack of demand for Bourjos and that we weren't going to get a solid arm for him, I've changed my stance.

 

You cannot judge a trade when you don't know the backstory and interest. You cannot assume there's at ton of interest in Bourjos and that he'd bring in this player or that player.

 

That's cause they held onto Bourjos way too long.

If this is true, y'all just got swindled.

Freese's best days are behind him because of bad ankles and back problems, and Salas was gasoline every time he came in to pitch in a leverage situation last year.

I expected to have to give you a starter (Lynn) to get this deal done.

The addition of Freese allows DiPoto to trade one of Aybar or Kendrick for a starting pitcher. Think outside the box Angels fans. This trade is merely to position DiPoto to make a bigger trade with another team.

 

Trading a bench player (Bourjos) for a starting 3Bman is a good trade in my opinion.

I don't have the prospect knowledge of most of you, but I think Grichuk is a good prospect and the Angels should have held onto him. Tons of power and solid defender, and still very young.  Could develop into a Trumbo type, or even better.

You forgot to add that the Cards got cheaper and gained an extra year of club control.

Wow, not a fan of this at all.  Weren't there rumors that Freese was going to be non-tendered?  I guess that's why Stl is where they are and we are where we are.  If Bourjos' value is this low, why trade him?

Ok.  But where do you play Calhoun? Would you rather see Bourjos out there over Calhoun? I certainly wouldn't.
