Basically. Only thing now is that the Cards freed up a couple of million in payroll and get a younger player back....which creates some more value

Also in another note.  Bourjos was scheduled to make $1.1 million in arbitration 1 this offseason.  Freese is in arbitration 2, and made $3.15 million last year.  So our 'tax space' to get pitchers also shrank.

 

This should also mean the Angels have one less year of control over Freeze...

What has Bourjos done in his short career to prove he's worth more? I'll take the 3B when we already have plenty of OFs

Both teams have a need and are buying low and obviously looking for these guys to rerurn to form & from injury

Those opposed clearly over-valued Bourjos.  I don't get it - we filled a hole here.  Let's not pretend it wasn't a position we needed to address.

It's not like they addressed it. He is not much better than Callaspo if any.

The point is that Bourjos had significant upside and would have made a great 4th outfielder for the Angels. You don't trade very talented players when they're coming off an injury-plagued season. You don't get a good return.

It's a typo.  It's supposed to be Salsa.   Pujols is missing his favorite brand.

Don't mean to be critical Chuck, but just yesterday you were saying Shuck for Freese was fair. Bourjos >>> Shuck. Always going with the party line, buddy?

 

After I've had a "Conversation" and heard of the lack of demand for Bourjos and that we weren't going to get a solid arm for him, I've changed my stance.

 

You cannot judge a trade when you don't know the backstory and interest. You cannot assume there's at ton of interest in Bourjos and that he'd bring in this player or that player.
