Dogs better have to give up a metric butt ton of elite prospects.  Always seems like they gets the goods for a steaming pile of dog crap.  Can’t they get fleeced for once?

No.

They'll somehow end up only giving up their 12th, 19th, and 27th ranked prospects.

The Wizards and Lakers have agreed to terms on a Westbrook trade, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic (via Twitter).

In addition to Westbrook, the Lakers will receive a 2024 second-round pick and a 2028 second-rounder in exchange for Kuzma, Harrell, Caldwell-Pope, and the No. 22 pick.

The best possible situation to be in, is to have an extremely strong team, with incredibly high budget and more prospects than you know what to do with.

If you can somehow build that, you win. Because winning perpetuates winning.

If you're current crop isn't performing, no problem, just promote prospects from within, and if that doesn't work, use those prospects to trade for someone who will win. And if that doesn't work, use your ridiculous budget to sign FA that will win. And when their contact expires just replace them with all those specials prospects you have. Wash-rinse-repeat.

Either way, you're going to win. Continually.

And that's what the Dodgers have done.

There hasn't been a bad Dodgers team in ten years, back to 2011. And even then, two years before that they were in first. So it's been more than a decade of dominance. And they appear as if they're on the cusp of entering another period of dominance with good young players on the roster as well as superstars like Betts, Belli, Kershaw, Buehler and Scherzer.

And when those guys are too old to win, they'll just promote new prospects to take their place.
