North Korea leader tells military to be ready to use nuclear weapons at any time

Here's a scenario that scares me:

NK nukes Seoul killing millions including our troops. We invade and risk war with China. After the dust settles a little bit, we act as an occupying force and NK detonates a nuke in Pyongyang wiping out everyone in the city. The U.S. Could lose more troops in one day than we did throughout the whole Vietnam conflict. Hopefully this problem is solved diplomatically...

You could be right but how do you have any sense of diplomacy with N. Korea?

North Korea has an entire military that hasn't been battle tested since 1953. They are a parade ready country, nothing more.

The Washington Post has a story up that they will be ready to launch an ICBM next year that could hit the United States. Defense Department is declining comment.

So, maybe not just a parade ready country?

The um..silver lining of NK using nukes is that it tips the equation for China quite decisively. China lets NK exist simply because it's in their (mostly financial) best interest. Most of all above anything they value stability. The moment nukes start going off that ceases to be the case and they will be a million of their soldiers on the move before you can blink. Of course it'd be in their interest as well for them to be the ones in NK before the US even had a chance to be.

That seems just a little too suicidal for NK. Also if that happened China would not be an issue.

Good point. If something like that did happen China will have invaded long before we could... unless we just leveled the country with nukes...
