I would certainly consider a Madson "reunion". Sipp and Bastardo are interesting pieces for another lefty reliever. I think the Angels need two more, quality relievers (and that's if they don't include Gott in another deal).

With teams needing to protect players on the 40-man by midnight tonight, I have a feeling we will see the Angels snag a player or two today trying to be outrighted off another team's 40, maybe even a minor trade.

Looks like the Angels have 34 players on the 40-man, and I don't see any prospects really that need to be added - someone may know the requirements better than me though.

In fact, I could see Navarro, Reynolds, and Lopez maybe at risk of losing their spots. Not likely with Pujols' injury and only two other C's on 40, but possible.

This team may look quite a bit different next year.

So who's going to be the first big name to sign?  usually a signing or two occurs around the Thanksgiving holiday.  

 

Although, it has been eerily quiet leading up to the holiday.  You don't hear rumors on MLBTraderumors on the big guys at all.  Which I find odd.

Infield depth and years of control gained by trading a 4th outfielder type we got for Ackley with no options left.

 

Not much to really judge here ... but decent move. Certainly nothing that really changes anything ... but it leads me to believe Chris Taylor will soon be packaged with someone and gotten rid of.

Craig Gentry just got DFA'd.  He'd be a nice pickup at a 4th OFer and pinch runner.

seriously.  we finally held him down last year, but the previous three years he hit .343 against us with 17 sb and 0 cs in 120 pa.

I like Gentry's pure speed and ability to steal a base.  We haven't really had a guy like that off the bench in awhile.   Maicer wasn't a burner, but he had a very good sb rate while with the halos.  Most of our speed guys were in the lineup everyday.  Gotta go back to Jeff Davanon prior to that.

not sure.  but who have we got on the 40man as a 4th OFer that we'd be bummed to give up?

Gentry would be a great add as our 4th OF. Plus defender at all 3 OF spots, runs the bases really well, can hit lefties. Sounds similar to Cowgill but Gentry doesn't have swing and miss issues.
