This is just like the time the Angels brought in David Murphy and Shane Victorino to fix the outfield. 

Hope he does well though. 

Also, it seems evident now, that the Angels are committed to giving Marsh and Adell a full, proper season in AAA before allowing them to inherit a major league position.

I think he’ll be decent enough for our purposes.  Better than sticking Rengifo out there.  Might be we won’t be seeing Upton for a while.

Is it wrong that I was hoping for this Adam Eaton instead?  I mean, this one is only 42 years old.  And only 12 years removed from having thrown a pitch in the majors.

Fun fact: going by bWAR, he was more valuable as a hitter (2.4 Offensive WAR) than a pitcher (2.2 Pitching WAR)...

Adam Eaton = White Dexter Fowler. If it was five years ago, I'd think, "Sweet! We got one of the most underrated players in the game!" But that was 2016. His game has declined in every way, although he still was a decent hitter as recently as 2019 (108 wRC+).

Anyhow, he's another warm body holding a glove to put in the OF until Upton and Trout are back, and/or they decide Marsh is ready for the Show. And who knows, maybe he'll do better with a change of scenery. And of course...

I don't think Ward is platoon worthy versus LHP's.

2021/Career OPS  vs. LHP's is .718/.690.

2021/Career OPS vs. RHP's is .707/.654.

Ward has hit 10 of his career 14 HR's off of RHP's.

This is Minasian telling us he does not think Ward is a MLB player. When Trout and/or Upton come back Ward is gone. If he has options left that means SLC, if not then DFA. Eaton and Lagares are both better 4th OF'er options than Ward.

Early August for Trout wouldn't shock me at this point, given that they haven't even said when and where he'll do his rehab. But I would hope it would literally be EARLY August, like the first couple days.
