At $5m minus however much is deferred, it seems to me one of two things is likely true. Either:

- They're out of money.

Or

- This is a prelude to another deal and they're trying to save money here to make another deal work.

With 2 roster spots open, I highly doubt it's the first option.

More could be coming, but only if Heaney is traded. We have a 6 man rotation with Ohtani.

I think we'll add a reliever at least.

I’d bet my paycheck on the latter.

It’s either something big like Bauer or something along the lines of Oderizzi and a big trade for someone like Jon Gray.

I, like many here, still don't understand this trade. Cobb is no better than than the current SP the Angels already have. Those pitchers; Canning, Barria, Sandoval etc are cheaper too. Trading a semi useful prospect and paying 5 million when a SP could have just been signed for the same price or less that's equally as good as Cobb is a bad move IMO. Oh well.

Let’s see how much is deferred.

What pitchers would those be?

we're piecing together a rotation with one year contract guys.

I guess the shortened season pandemic baseball seasons may be the time to do that - but it's just another re-run of Halos front office script of so many years -- well - today is Groundhog Day -- oh well.

the Halos moves like this just seem to disintegrate about mid- season and make for a long season and emptiness feeling both in the stands (well - they're all empty now) and on the field in August/ September.
