Hello!!! We swept the Tigers.

Recommended Posts

I agree...they had a great series in which they won each game in a few different ways

Game 1 was a blow-out by 10 runs, Game 2 a pitcher's dual, Game 3 a 5 HR barrage made tight by a shaky BP and Game 4 a come-back against a Ace with a clutch hit to seal the deal

The series had everything for Angels fan but I think some here are skeptical based on the first two months with Joyce, Ianetta, and Cron in the line-up with no impact bat beyond Trout, Pujols, and Calhoun.

What is strange is the Tigers are a good team. I noticed on the telecast the Tigers were treating it as a playoff game. Lots of respect there.

Tigers are one of those teams that the Angels just have their number for some reason. Baseball is strange that way. Kind of like the Astros have ours ... hopefully that second part changes this year.

Call it Carlos Guillen karma.   Ever since he acted like a self-centered brat against Weaver in 2011, the Halos have had their number.

I agree, the Halos have had their number for awhile now.

Additionally, we caught them now without VMart and while their starting pitching has been suspect other than Price and Simon.

Also the Angels finished May with a winning record, going 16-13 compared to 11-11 in April.

How about this: as mentioned the Angels play their next 19 games against basically average or worse teams - 3 vs. the Yankees,  6 vs. the Rays, 6 vs. the Athletics, and 4 vs. the Diamondbacks. Let's sa they go 12-7. That puts them at 39-31 on June 22 when they play the Astros, who have a slightly harder schedule. Let's say the Astros go 10-10 and would be 41-30. Let's see:

41-30 Astros

39-31 Angels = 1.5 GB

That means with a 2-1 series win, they'll be half a game behind. With a sweep, the Angels would be in first place.

Optimism!
