scherzer is looking for 200 million. i don't think the angels are interested in that scenario. i absolutely believe they'll spend money if they like the situation, i just don't think they like the scherzer situation.

Now that we have Richards, Shoemaker, Weaver, Wilson, Heaney, and Santiago, I think its definitely time to spend some money on offense.  We need to look at someone who can DH and play 1st or Outfield.  Michael Morse can play both.  I would like to see Pujols DH more next season if it means better production.

Dude shows the ability to hit for average and get on base at a high clip with the ability to hit 15-20 HR and steal. 30+ bases

I doubt Betts is a realistic option, although he would fit in perfectly.  The Red Sox have a crowded outfield with Ramirez, Cespedes, Victorino, Castillo, Bradley in the outfield and of course Pedroia at 2nd.  I still would like to have a speedy lead off hitter

Super sad to see Howie go. I was one his biggest supporters on here, but we needed starting pitching in a bad way.

Just woke up to this deal. WOW! Going to miss Howie, he was so steady and such a constant presence. But won't miss hiss GIDPs.

I suspect it's now Green and somebody in a platoon or UTL/back up INF battle this spring. Could make for a entertaining competition in spring training.

Don't like to see Howie gone, but out of the pieces you would consider expendable he probably had the most value. Picking up a top rated solid young arm with lots of potential and 6 years of control doesn't come without risk...but seems to be solid return. Might be more of a 2016 and beyond move, wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up a veteran inning eater or two for 2015.

He was rated in the 20's in BA's top 100 prospect list for 2014, and we currently have zero players that are even in the top 100 I believe.  Maybe Newcomb will crack the list in 2015, but Heaney is by far our best prospect.

Assuming Richards makes it back and Skaggs comes back in 2016, all of a sudden we have some legit young arms to keep this thing going for awhile....Heany, Tropeano, Shoemaker and maybe Santiago too and it's pretty impressive...
