Astros accused of high-tech sign-stealing scheme during 2017 championship season

Nobody said anything about the fans being fined, except YK who is kind of a dumbshit.

What does that mean?

All of this means the players won't be punished.

Everyone will continue to be paid, except maybe if they suspend/ban some management.

If they vacate the 2017 WS championship the only people who will be hurt are the fans.

If they punish the team with lost draft picks it only hurts the fans, nobody else.

Police usher Astros' Crane away from scrum at owners meetings

Houston Astros owner Jim Crane elected not to discuss the sign-stealing scandal facing his club while attending Major League Baseball's owners meetings in Arlington, Texas.

"If you want to talk about baseball, I'll talk about baseball," Crane said, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. "What else do you want to talk about?"

Crane was then escorted away from the media scrum to the meeting area by a pair of police officers, who are stationed at the hotel to serve as security, Passan adds.

It didn't really happen.

Lee Hacksaw Hamilton's high speed sports ticker hasn't been a thing for about 15 years.  So when I mentioned it, I thought it would be kinda obvious that I was being sarcastic.

Because Jay says the fans are the ones who are going to end up paying.  The supposed "fine the fans" was a play on that.

whew, thought i'd missed something important.

I admit I am triggered and have started making my rounds around the MLB forums I guess as a means to shame this guy, Spacemoth as his username goes, for saying at least a little of the negative backlash the Astros are getting from the media and fans of other teams has to do with "racism". I am just one of those people who can not stand when that word is used when it does not apply. And such an ignorant and wrong time to use that word is one of those. You know a fan is in self defense/reflect the blame mode when they use that word. As if Houston has more minorities than New York or LA. As if they are better at gender rights. As if they are better at being diverse. I would not like what the Astros have been accused of doing and as strict a punishment be put on them no matter who was on the team, to say its a race thing, yet again, boggles my mind when people throw that word around. You know these Astros fans are getting desperate when they start saying crap like that!

I know I shouldn't get so triggered, I know its the interwebs, yet I feel the need to share how dumbfounding Astros fans arguments are getting, regardless if they are typing that out hotheaded and not thinking before they do. To do it at all makes me shake my head.

I wouldn't be surprised if Manfred and the Astros put this 100% on Brandon Taubman, and let Luhnow and Hinch skate.

I would be very surprised. Why do people think Manfred likes the Astros? They've been successful on the field recently, but I don't think it's been like the Yankees where every call goes their way.

If anything I think Manfred will welcome the opportunity to hammer the Astros. It's not like Manfred is some hard core analytics nerd. He has pretty much been against a lot of what new baseball stands for. He was even thinking of banning the shift. Other things we know he believes are big problems are pace of play and perceived tanking.

1. They fired their scouting dept. I'd imagine many of those guys have friends in baseball.

2. They took tanking to a new level I think it's well beyond what the Cubs did. It also showed how successful it could be and made it more acceptable. I think Manfred hates this.

3. The Astros distracted from the WS. I don't think Manfred hates this more than the rest of the baseball establishment, but they really don't like that at all.

I think Manfred will take the opportunity to really hammer them.

Those antennas allow him to pick up frequencies from the other team.

But do you know who the guy behind homeplate with the handlebar moustache is?

Less of him liking the Astros and more of him wanting this to be done and buried.

I hope you're right though, and they do indeed get the hammer.

That only works if no one cares. Zero chance that happens. Luhnow and Hinch best case is a suspension for both. Could easily see both gone for life. Especially Luhnow based on the Goldstein email.

I don't think MLB is willing to risk Taubman going rogue ala Canseco or writing a tell all book about the cheating and tanking and whatever other BS the Astros have been doing the last 5+ years..

That dude is gonna sing
