The Red Sox issued the following statement in response to the report regarding Roenicke (Twitter link via MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo): “Our managerial search is not yet completed. We will comment at the completion of the search.”

That, of course, doesn’t mean that Roenicke won’t ultimately be named manager, although it’s nevertheless notable that the team felt compelled to issue a statement without being prompted.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the trade sending Mookie Betts and David Price to the Dodgers is expected to be finalized sometime Friday.

The deal is reportedly being held up due to medical concerns that arose during the medical review of Brusdar Graterol, who is expected to land with the Red Sox in the three-team trade. It's not clear what alterations/additions will be made to the deal in order to push it through, but tweaks are likely to be made. However, Nightengale is hearing that the trade is not in danger of falling through. A separate deal that would send Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling to the Angels is also expected to go through Friday, per Nightengale.
