The best thing about Ian Kinsler's brief stay in Anaheim was the return when we traded him to Beantown. We traded a has-been second baseman for our future (now?) closer.

I don't know about future closer quite yet, but he should be a quality piece in the pen for sure. Great trade.

Here's hoping Jerez can get back to what he was doing when he first came up as well.

 

Since he gave up that bomb in Arizona to David Peralta he totally shit the bed.

 

Ultimately getting them for two prospects who would probably be somewhere in the top 60 or so is pretty good.

It's like that Peralta HR did something to Jerez.   Someone tell him that Peralta does that to a LOT of MLB pitchers.   Nut it up, and FORGET about it!

He's got the stuff, although the fastball seems to straighten out too often.

12 years of control comes with Buttrey and Jerez. 12 years for a 2 month rental! both these guys will be in the pen next year. Eppler stole these two from the Red Sox.

The Red Sox are taking their division and needed Kinsler to be solid in the playoffs. It was a good trade for them.

I was thinking the same thing about Buttrey....Middleton is out for most of next year, and I dont trust Parker to close out games.  Buttrey seems like a very nice in house option.

Can you guys let this guy be good for more then a month before doing this ?  He looks good. Hopefully it keeps up.

He's been on a good stretch longer than any other bullpen arm...

they would have done those two things without Kinsler.

1.  every at bat gets analyzed 

2. don't shit on Chuck's couch
