I agree. The pen was shaky to start the year, but when you think about it, had we not lost Middleton or Wood, it may have been a pretty decent pen, especially after Parker and Bedrosian's initial struggles.

A lot of the bullpen's perceived weakness stems from our under-performing offense and the decimating injuries, again. Turn those around for 2019 and he'll have more leash to play with in terms of toying with the pen on the cheap.

Probably could have added JC Ramirez to that duo and we've got a fairly deep pen

Obviously you don't give them away but, if you can get 2-3 prospects like we've been seeing other team's getting for rentals, you absolutely make that deal.

Easy enough...keep them if the offers are marginal...none are on expiring contracts....we can be selective....

Hopefully so. We're seeing some quality returns on relievers so far and Parker has closing experience(with success) that clubs love. Crossing my fingers that they end up shipping him to the Braves. It's such a perfect pairing with them needing bullpen help + them having an embarrassment of riches in their farm.

If only we had Richards to shop. Still hopeful Eppler can make something work for Kinsler and at least one, preferably two, relievers.

I'm not going to dwell on what we don't have to trade and focus on trades we could make.  I don't think we are going to stand pat either.  I think Eppler will actually add a piece while possibly picking up some teams higher priced player to go with it.

That's absolutely what I'm feeling too. Turn these rentals into more prospect depth, trade some of it for an offseason/long-term need.

Saying this as the guy who posts recaps on the minor leagues every morning, there is no better time to cash in on the ridiculous seasons that most of our Top 30 guys are having. All of them are not going to translate this to the bigs. Pull the trigger.

I would trade him for the right piece, for example a guy like Barria.

That's where Atlanta comes in. Literally a half-dozen near MLB ready SP prospects who would've graded similarly to Barria. They can afford to spin off one of them.

Would you rather Eppler trade each individually and get multiple prospects back that are under the radar guys that you have to squint a little to see if they will be good major leaguers.  Or would you rather he package a Parker and a Kinsler and get one legitimate major league ready prospect back?

What about Swihart? ?

Ehhhhhh. I'd like to have him but don't really want to blow a reliever on him unless it was Alvarez.

He could wind up Kaleb Cowart 2.0 over here, especially since he's out of options. If Eppler really liked him I'd be more open, as I trust his judgement.
