[hey mtangelsfan] How Bernie pays for his proposals

Recommended Posts

What do we call the 150 billion we give to Wal-mart and McDonalds to subsidize their employees? Not Free-bees? Or the wall street bail out? Was that earned? Oil companies earn their subsidies? So capitalists are cool with subsidizing their own 401k plans. Hypocrites.

This conservative fantasy that we are equal opportunity capitalist and everyones got the same opportunities is pie in the sky asinine. Not everyones as smart as you.

Guessing most "conservatives" here agree those are very bad things

I don't think I've seen anyone here arguing against socialism that says they were huge opponents of the bailouts, corporate subsidies and so on.  Here's the thing most people learn at a young age that some people either didn't or are flat out ignoring - life isn't fair.  Some people will always have advantages and that's been the case throughout history and will never change.  That said if you work hard you can still make a nice life for yourself in what is still a great country yet obviously far from perfect.  Odds are you won't ever be 1% rich but you can still have a great life, the type people risk life, limb and everything they own for a chance at just trying to get here.

You are saying all of this as if it's fact and it's already proven. It's not.

Those schools are looked at favorably because they're name brand and they cost a lot.

I guarantee you not every person would be going to college, hell a lot of people already barely finish high school. There will be no shortage of baristas.

There are a lot of people deserving of a college education that would excel, but don't have the opportunity to.

UCLA and CAL don't cost a lot.

As for those deserving people you mentioned, why don't they have the opportunity?

You nailed it.  Your last sentence is especially important too.

Most of the 1% are getting richer because they are really good at making money and that doesn't just stop when they make it to the 1%.  Bernie's plan to steal their money and give it to people who aren't making money is just morally wrong, and violates just about very principal there is in nature.

Let's all keep this in mind when Arte makes decisions as a business owner.

I cannot recall anyone ever saying everyone has the same opportunities. However, everyone has a chance to "make it". Some have to do more than others to create those opportunities.

I asked because you say by your observations. Could you google it and explain since it is your POV?

What do you consider "the wealthiest"?

It's very simple.  Trickle down doesn't take into account that those earning millions aren't obliged to reinvest into the economy and create jobs.  Yet it is the very thing the theory counts on them to do for it to work.  Meanwhile, we do know those living paycheck to paycheck are less likely to just stash that money.  I'm not saying give out free money like it is welfare, but giving tax cuts to those that have less will do more to stimulate the economy than tax cuts for the rich.

Of course there is also the great Will Rogers quote.  "The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover was an engineer. He knew that water trickled down. Put it uphill and let it go and it will reach the dryest little spot. But he dident know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow’s hands. They saved the big banks but the little ones went up the flue."

I started at INO making $3.50 an hour. This year will be the first year I make less than I made the previous year in my almost 29 years, then again we could have an amazing summer again and then that won't be true.

I'll be doing my part to help your sales go up

I'm not sure that quote is so great. Anyhow, I don't think the "rich" should get tax cuts. But it ain't cool to tax them more so than now. There also needs to be a definition of rich. Too many think someone making $300K+ is rich.

Wow, so !@#$ the poor? They're lazy and thats why they're poor.

Anyone who believes that is either really racist/sexist or just full retard. And yes you can be a full blown retard and make a living in a america…. if you're white.

Colt, Just out of curiosity and because i would love to give you props what are you currently doing to help the poor and needy. Obviously if you make good money you're helping them with your tax dollars, but if you're not, I'd love to know how you're spending time fighting for this cause. You certainly come across as someone that isn't just an idealist that throws words at a keyboard to help those that America is leaving behind that can't possibly help themselves. Edited by Stradling
