The Poles got screwed by everyone. Its seriously hard to think of any people that got it worse in the war. Maybe China?

The Soviets lost more people, but it was spread over a bigger population. And they didnt get occupied by both giants...

To this day, the Poles hate the Russians more than the Germans...and Auschwitz was created specifically for Poles, not Jews.... let that sink in... that the Bear is still the most hated.

Been watching / listening to  "the 2000s" , the CNN doc on netflix. Really liked the previous series'.

Its crazy to watch these as "history"... iraq and the recession seem so recent, but here were are headed in to the 2020s...

good point about the holocaust. an awful lot of people think today that only the jews were targeted. they forget that while there were 6 mil jews exterminated, there were another 6 mil people killed, including a lot of poles, slavs, gypsies, gays, and others. they should also be remembered.

Europe and asia were hell on earth for 6 years. Eastern europe and china... brutal.

Ive been to auschwitz... some of the displays leave you hollow.

One thing i remember standing out was the camp commandant's home... with a small playground and swings outside.... 

.... and hanging gallows maybe 20 feet away....

Along those lines @Tank, I very highly recommend the movie "Conspiracy". HBO did it back about 2000. I think its free with Amazon.

Its about the Wansee Conference, where the Nazi high command started the organized holocaust (organized in terms of death camps... the nazis had been shooting masses well before hand).

Phenom movie. Ive been to the actual home it took place in... with the documents. Holocaust deniers....sigh.

Aside from the camps, look into the massacres at places like Riga, and throughout Lithuania. No gas chambers... but events like 20K people shot to death in 3 days...

Last sidenote. Lots of the holocaust was conducted by other than Germans. People forget Hungary, the Czechs, etc. And, last but not least... Soviets who hated Stalin, who assisted the Germans in rou ding up and killing the Jews, Communists, etc etc

I didn't even know this show existed until Hulu started advertising it.

Not a bad show, obviously a Sons of Anarchy spin-off but not nearly as annoying. I remember wishing Gemma would die every week.

Yeah I watched SoA all the way to the end, wanting to slit my wrists with every episode.

The cast of Mayans M.C. is way better but that's not saying much.

Looking forward to Jack Ryan season 2, out soon. Also, the Dark Crystal on Netflix is coming out in a few days. Great 80s fantasy film, series looks good.

But I think the most unsettling part was where they said they tried to unload the Jews to other countries, and they said no countries, including the US would take any more.

are you familiar with the story of the St. Louis? it was a ship during WWII, and it was a tragic story. The US really screwed that one up.

The new Dave Chapelle special is an all timer. If you are a snowflake, easily outraged, or have a lot of feelings you might want to skip this one - for the rest of us it's great to see someone stick his neck out and say all the things you're not supposed to say anymore.

Netflix:  Better than Us.  A Russian series, dubbed in English, about a robot/android that gets purchased by a robot manufacturer and has AI powers.  It starts off slow, like really slow to the point that I was going to give up on it after an episode or two.  But it picks up the more you get into the series.  The one thing that bugged me about it was it was supposed to be a future series, and yet things were stuck in the past.  They'd have the robots and drones and fancy phones and other tech, then have junky 80's cars.  Other than that though, if you get past the slow portions of the show, it really gets interesting.  I guess it's like a coming of age AI android, with people pulling it in all different directions.

Yeah, I'm really liking S2, about halfway through. Between Holden's intuitions and tactics in Atlanta, to Tench's problems with Brian and their relationship is pretty gripping stuff. Can't wait to see where that all goes.
