Just watched the first episode of Justified. Hopefully it gets better.

I'm three episodes in to my rewatch. I'm remembering now that the first season is good, with flashes of brilliance. Season 2 is when it really becomes full-brilliant.

finished Homecoming on Amazon last night

the story was okay, but nothing special.

great looking show, though, and it has some good performances.  the best part of the show was how the soundtrack is mostly orchestral music from other soundtracks from the past 5 decades.

Netflix:  Money Heist  Kind of an Oceans 11 with a lot of drama.  I think it's a Spanish show dubbed in English.  It gets a little annoying in parts.  But I think it really picks up in Season 3.  Overall, if you like heist type shows, it's worth watching.

Movie:  Hobbs and Shaw  Didn't have any real expectations for this one.  I thought it was better than the other Fast and the Furious movies, but that's kind of really a low bar I'm comparing it to.  It was entertaining, and there was a story to it.  They went the James Bond route and pretty much put a super villain in it.  Not as much of in your face action, vehicles doing the impossible type stunts, but there were enough of those types of scenes.  Overall, it's a fun movie to see once.  But it's more of a cable when you are bored movie.

I saw it on Friday and found it to be very meh. there are absolutely zero surprises in it. there will definitely be a sequel and anyone who was paying attention probably has a good lead on who was behind the super villain.

My daughters are watching the new Aladdin in the background and I can barely stand it. is it just me or is this terrible? For one, I like Will Smith but he's no Robin Williams. I don't think he was the right casting choice....poor guy, he's really fallen from his mega-stardom of a decade ago. I also hate how the CGI de-humanizes his facial expressions. It is creepy.

I haven't seen it and don't plan to, but my initial reaction was this is one of those movies that shouldn't be remade (like Star Wars, Casablanca, or raiders of the lost ark).

Anyone watching Pennyworth on Epix?

I thought the first episode was intriguing.

I just watched the first episode. I thought it was good, not great, but I'll definitely watch the second episode to see where it goes

Just finished the Hot Zone.

What a letdown.

I read the book years ago. Was super excited to see a movie / series on it.

It strayed wayyyy too far from the book. The technical facts were wrong in a lot of cases. The characters who were supposed to be Army obviously had no tech advisor to make them appear at all realistic. Etc etc.

Cheesy, melodramatic, the works.

Like I said, huge letdown.

Highly recommend the book, though. Hopefully the show got people interested in the book (and the event).

Probably unrelated but I have some pretty cool photos of my oldest daughter and me riding five legged, three eyed horses near Chernobyl.

Hate to be the one to break the news to you but those were mice.

Netflix:  Glow Season 3.  Not as good as seasons 1 and 2.  This season just seemed lost and the story was going all over the place.  In the end though, I think it's back on course for season 4.  If you liked season 1 and 2, I think you are forced to watch season 3.  But season 3, just doesn't stand up on it's own.

Netflix:  iZombie  Stop judging me Lou.  So as you would have guessed, a Zombie show.  One of those casual type shows, that you could put on in the background.  More of the entertainment type show.  So if you are into zombies and want something to watch that isn't all blood and gore.  Then not a bad one.

I went to high school with and graduated the same year as Robert Buckley yet I never had him in any of my class periods or personally knew him.  I do remember seeing him and some friends of his at a theater showing of Varsity Blues at the La Verne theater in senior year.

I need to catch up on that show.  I’m in the middle of season 3.  Love all 3 of Rob Thomas’ shows.  Speaking of which, you seen the Veronica Mars reboot yet?

In the middle of season 2 of Justified

Definitely a TV show. Started out weak and has improved due to good script by the writers.

Reminds me a little of Ozark where everything just keep spinning off and twisting the plot.

Spoiler

What did Coover have in the bag at Ava's that she shot? Badger, Wolverine, Raccoon?

The money part with Winona was really weak and could have been left out IMO.

Netflix:  Mindhunter Season 2  Thought it had a similar vibe as season 1.  If the personal twist was true about Tench, that's kind of wild.  And Ford was being Ford through the whole thing.  But the twist at the end was good.  Definitely worth a watch.

Spoiler

The Manson interview was interesting, also comparing it to the Tex interview.  Also I like the tease for the next serial killer/season 3.

Netflix:  Mission of Honor  Docu movie about Polish fighter pilots who fight for the Brits in WW2.  Flowed pretty well.  And the Poles got screwed in the end by the Brits.  If you like historical stuff, especially about the war in the air.  It's not a bad one.
