This is a two year deal, $6 million in 2020 and $8 million in 2021.The Angels had to pay him $14 million for 1 year, so this new deal is for less.

He is guaranteed $16m. The point was that I predicted he’d get more than the Angels $14m option, and thus if the Angels didn’t want to commit to him at $14m for one year they would likely have to commit to more total dollars if they wanted to bring him back. This was when people were talking about bringing him back on a cheaper deal.

That's he's a 2 WAR player?  Maybe Eppler just didn't want to trade him. Pure and simple.  I find it incredibly difficult to believe that absolutely no team wanted him.

Haha, so which teams needed a right fielder the last 2 months that wanted to spend $5 million for possibly winning one more game.

The Brewers. That one game they win is the wild card game because there isn’t a 3 run error in right. Strasburg doesn’t opt out and completely reset the pitching market. Astros win the WS so Cole doesn’t care about winning as much. The Angels sign Cole for 7/$245

At the deadline they had Yellich playing right field.

The Brewers had Ryan Braun in left, Lorenzo Cain in center and Christian Yelich in right. There was no reason for them to trade for Calhoun at the deadline.

so long Kole -- he had a good Halos career.

hope he does well at his next duty station.

the old adage applies here - rather part with a player a year or two too soon than a year or two too late.

all this being said -- I just don't see high K ratio guy Kole being an effective roster addition to an NL team,

how many times did Calhoun strike out last year ?  I am going to guess-estimate 125-130 -- far too much for being part of an NL line up.

well, it's definitely KOLE with a "K"

he averaged 145 K's a season during his Halos career.

in 2019 he struck out 162 times -- that's an average of once a game if he played all 162 games.

for a hit and run type NL team -- that just won't work.

Kole's K numbers per season since 2015: 2015 - 164; 2016- 118; 2017 - 134; 2018 - 133 and then 2019 - 162.

on to the D-BacKs
