David Price really wouldn't be a bad option depending on the cost. Again, if he only costs 15 million a year, and they get Luis Rengifo back, it's a solid deal for both sides. Price reuinites with Maddon, last year was the first time in a decade he hasn't exceeded 175 IP, his 3.62 FIP was directly in line with his previous two seasons. Not only that, he gets to move out of the AL East, and gets an even better defense behind him. Price still generates a fair number of ground balls. He is fully healthy again, and he's that veteran presence that every staff needs. The guy that the rest of the pitching staff looks to for advice, because he's been there. He's been that top prospect, he's been that top of the rotation starter, and he's pitched in the world series.

While he's not the ace he once was anymore, he's still a reasonable bet to go 150+ innings with a 4.00 ERA at minimum. Best case scenario, he's more like 180+ innings and a 3.25 ERA. The middle ground is probably around 170 innings and a 3.50 ERA.

I still think the $15 million a year thing is unrealistic. $20 million is even pushing it but at least we'd be taking on most of the contract.

But let's say this scenario plays out and it ONLY costs Rengifo. Despite the injury history and velocity trajectory, you would be fine with Price at 3/45 despite the Angels not even offering Ryu a contract?
