Maldonado overplayed his market, I guess. Heard he was asking for around 10 per on a multi year deal, iirc.

Catcher is a tougher spot to land a job at this point unless you’re offensively special. He’s not.

I dont know if you have to be special per se, but you have to fit the plan, and his sub 300 obp wasn't fitting anything following analytics.

13 years seems ridiculous, especially without a Buy Out option. No way they keep him throughout the entirety of that contract, he will be traded by year 5-6

That's a 25.4 M AAV. Nothing must be deferred. But even then, it's surprisingly low AAV, at 330/13.

Arenado just got nearly 32.5 over 8.

Trout will get closer to 37.5, then, over 8-10.
