Well i still think they had given up but the team fighting back into it changed things, thus the late action.  but that is of course a pure guess and opinion.

Verlander is a lot better than the numbers suggest. Plus, as we've seen with Upton, they partly just want financial freedom, abdvwont require the best prospects. 

We might be able to land Verlander just by taking on his contract and sending Barria.

I don't want to Jinx it but seriously if the Angels can get Upton Phillips and Verlander in one day for the playoff push that would be incredible. The Angels players have to be so excited and pumped that management and ownership seemed to be going all in.

edit: Actually, we were already three games into that amazing run when he hit that walk-off on the last Sunday of April. Monday was a travel day, then we beat Cleveland on Tuesday by the score of 21-2.

With only 519 followers I have a hard time imagining he broke the Yu news or I'd think he'd have a few more just from that
