Phillips has always been a very good defensive 2B. Won 4 gold gloves and is still a plus defensively this season even at his current age. He'll form an awesome MIF duo with Simmons

Those two go together well. They also have pretty similar lines this year: Simmons is .288/.340/.448/.787 with 19 SB, Phillips is .276/.320/.421/.742 with 10 SB. So...kinda like a poor man's Simmons (this year). Considering the fact that Simmons has one of the highest WAR in baseball and SHOULD get some MVP votes (if the world has any justice), that's not a bad thing.

Decide already. Fuck's sake.

I'm guessing he may want to stay home, since Atlanta is where he grew up and where he has a house.

But seriously, if I was wanted by another team who is in contention who just made a big deal for Justin Upton and has Mike Trout. I'd already be on the plane to Texas.

Yep. Not too many more chances for the 36-year old Mr. Phillips to get some postseason glory.

Seriously, this team could go places with the upgrades that are in the works.

I cant see this costing much at all, age, no longer a superstar etc... even Cowart would be too much and leave us with another hole for '18.
Great to make a run at this post season for sure though, but definitely no future option.

Assuming the trade goes through I would not mind re-signing Phillips to a 1 year deal. He is older, but is still putting up solid numbers.

But I agree that Cowart is too much to give up for a month of Phillips
