I wonder if the cubs are gonna do something stupid and take on Ellsbury and a big chunk of his contract.

Wish the Angels could swing a trade for Jake Lamb. He's young, bats left handed, plays good D at 3rd, has a ton of upside.

Talk about Cubs keeping Baez and signing Zobrist AND Heyward.. and trading Castro.

Cubs are in a position to be the big winners at this meeting, that's for sure.

If this happens, can rule the Dbacks out as a potential trade partner for CJ or even Santiago, I'd think

Very reasonable contract for a good all-around player. Cubs have had a good offseason so far with Lackey and Zobrist at reasonable costs

this makes zobrist nearly 40 through the end of the contract right ? I dont know, I like the player but the Cubs can have this one.  He's old.

If the Cubs managed to sign Heyward and move Castro for a pitcher....damn. They won 98 games as constructed. Imagine what woukd happen with the addition of Lackey, Zobrist, and Heyward, and further development from Bryant, Soler, and Schwarber.

The Yankees and Cubs have agreed to a trade that will send Starlin Castro to New York, tweets Joel Sherman of the New York Post. ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted seconds prior to Sherman’s report that the two sides were closing in on a deal. Sherman adds that the trade is pending medical reviews.

Its really hard to figure out what Eppler's plan is, after aquiring Simmons I thought maybe the goal was to get younger while still being competitive, Starlin would've been good imo.

If the plan is to just get a LF'er and patch up 3rd and stick with Gia I just don't see how we're much better. Our lineup will once again be front loaded with it being a miracle if 6-9 produce anything

+ Arrieta, Lester, Lackey. Each of those pitchers is way better than Heaney or Richards next season.
