Seems like he feel the need to say “ground ball” when a ground ball is hit, “throws to first”, etc and it just isn’t necessary to say out loud everything when you are pbp for a game on tv.

Obviously for radio you have to paint the whole picture but for tv you can sometimes just let the game speak for itself and after a guy grounds out you can then just say “two outs.”

Or, he could do what he is doing and stay with the game instead of private conversations with Gubi while the game goes on. I prefer the play by play guy being cognizant of the play on the field.

Oh yes be cognizant of the play on the field, but he doesn’t seem to quite realize what needs to be said versus what he is saying.

I just prefer to let the game itself breathe a little on its own.  We do see what is happening.

But it is a really tough gig to get right.
