Got an email stating that my daughter’s preschool will be open for in person classes next month. Great news! Fuck you Newsom!!!!!

My daughters preschool has been open for a month. They limit the number of kids there and how many adults have contact with them. My daughter works there and opens the place up each morning. She does a temp check on each child and adult. It’s gone well and the kids are happy.

Zero people under the age of 18 in California have died of the coronavirus. That’s despite the government trying to attribute every cause of death to COVID-19. Take your fake news and...

Death rate is probably around 0.4-0.5 %. Of course, death rate isn't the whole story, though. There's considerable morbidity associated with COVID that's not seen nearly as much in things like flu, but that's another conversation.

If you have a second or a decent number of them and would like a decent read on antibodies, check this out:

This should not be a surprise to anyone

It's not. It's just more confirmation of what we already knew. Stats from S. Korea in March showed about a 0.5ish% fatality rate when all hell doesn't break loose and people can be taken care of. It's also a testament to how easily this spreads and how friggin hard it is to protect the vulnerable without everyone doing the best they can. We can take care of people more effectively now than we did earlier this year, but if we let it spiral out of control and overwhelm the system (and it absolutely can), many people won't get the care they need. Death rates will go up. They lag cases. It's not likely to be like March, but it didn't have to be as bad as it looks like it'll be.
