Jack in the Box to Buy Del Taco Restaurants

Deal valued at $455 million ties up two West Coast fast-food chains

Excerpt:

Jack in the Box Inc. is buying Del Taco RestaurantsInc. for $455 million, a deal that ties up two West Coast fast-food chains.

Del Taco shareholders are expected to receive $12.51 in cash for each share owned, a 166% premium to the Mexican-focused chain’s closing price on Friday. Including debt, the companies valued the deal at $575 million.

My question is “how does this change how the Angels’ Front Office conducts negotiations as well as Maddon’s day to day lineup changes?”

In 1977 Ed and David sold the chain which had about 50 stores. But Ed retained the rights to own his own franchises.  Now there are over 500 Del Tacos.

I hate Jack in the Box. Talk about terrible food

When I was at Pepperdine, the only fast food restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter) open late in Malibu was Jack in the Box. My friends and I made many 11 PM trips to Jack in the Box (I promise we weren't high ... at least, I wasn't).

I was going to say that they cater to the smokers. I'm not a big fast food fan to begin with but they are the worst of the bunch.

To add to this, it was always the same guy working the late night drive thru shift. Gene, a.k.a. "Skeletor." He had kind of a skeleton appearance and would bark at people for not paying exact change.

Hopefully the Del Tacos don't all become Jack in the Boxes.

It would be a problem of biblical proportions.  Those on a 3 am bender will have to chose between the Jack in the Box crack tacos and the Del Taco crack tacos.  Eventually the order taker will have to say, sir, why don't you have one order of each.  Then for the next 10 minutes it'll be confusion of is that possible, no you can't mix.  How could I choose.
