I grew up in Philadelphia during the 1960's and experienced the Phillies' collapse of 1964, among other horrible seasons. I was well acquainted with suffering by the time I became an Angels fan.

The Greinke trade certainly didn't work for us. We went nowhere in 2012.

 

Teixiera worked out great because we ended up getting Trout as compensation when Tex left for NY.

I feel like Stoneman is working off scouting reports from the last time he was GM.

It worked because both players played well when they came here....and the pieces they gave up haven't really amounted to much

 

 

The comp pick for Tex leading to Trout is a nice story and all but we've already read/heard that if the Angels just had that one 1st round pick they'd have used it on Trout. So really the Tex comp pick helped them end up with Grichuk, not Trout

That's right.  So the grandchildren of Tex are Freese and Salas, and Bourjos went missing along the way.

Yeah, i wasnt thrilled to hear the news, but if we arent actually paying him anything and it only cost us rutledge (who didnt figure to be in the plans here anyway), its not a 'bad' move. Probably can only help, not really hurt.
