It doesn't. But it makes it incredibly likely. The fact that he agreed to it when the team could have just renewed him for the same amount they did in 2013 is very telling. It is obvious that things are being discussed and this was likely part of that discussion.

He actually had a signing bonus of 1,215,000. Something a lot of people here forget when they were complaining about him only making 500k.

That's exactly why this extension will end when he's 29/30 yrs old. We saw the 10yr mammoth deals that Pujols and Cano got when they were 31 yrs old. Trout will cash in as well with a deal that will definitely be well north of $300 million when he's 29/30
