The way that is worded tells me that the extension announcement is probably coming soon.

This is great news. I agree that we are very close to a long term deal hopefully seven but if it's six I'll be fine with it. I also think the speculation that it will come with a big signing bonus is accurate.

Yeah I think 3 extra years is ideal for everyone involved. Trout gets to test free agency at age 29 and the Angels are guaranteed to have him through his prime years. I'd love to have him for longer of course, but this gives the team 7 years to convince him that this is the best place to spend his entire career.

Yep. This tells me that the extension is all but wrapped up. 6 or 7 yr(hopefully 7) deal starting in 2015. I'm sure he'll get a nice signing bonus for 2014 as well

7 years is perfect, IMO. So long as it starts in 2015. That gives the Angels 4 extra years and he can test free agency at age 30. I'm guessing the difference between the contract at 29 and 30 would be marginal at best. Either way he would get paid.

If this happens, which I believe it will, this will be the best MLB signing of the offseason and should create a buzz within the clubhouse. A clubhouse which I'm told is in much better shape with all the new hires on the coaching staff.
