  1. Two things: 1) The Expos have three HOFers and the Angels have zero. WTF?! 2) Here are all the hitters in MLB history with Guerrero's slash line (.318/.379/.533) and 2,000 games played: Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Rogers Hornsby, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial, and Miguel Cabrera. Enough said.
  2. Shoemaker Tropeano Weaver Chacin Santiago Is there an obvious odd man out?
  3. It's fairly obvious that Eppler values defense above offense at the shortstop position. This move shouldn't surprise anyone.
  4. http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/9-reason-why-bad-news-bears-is-the-greatest-baseball-movie-ever-made-20160407 My favorite baseball movie (and one of my favorites of any genre for that matter) of all time. So much more than just a bunch of foul mouthed, crappy Little Leaguers — though they are certainly a big part of the film's charm.
  5. Nava/Gentry batting .286 with the team's only RBI. You're welcome, Angels fans.
  6. Richards and Heaney and nothing inbetweeny...

  8. Jimmy John's sells a "value" sandwich for around $5 that, no lie, is a bun, one piece of meat, and a slice of cheese.
  9. Jersey Mike's have the best subs in my opinion, but they're also the most expensive.

  11. I come out of seclusion every once in awhile. ;-)
  12. Great guy. Glad MLB found a role for him. Angels fans were lucky we had him for a couple of seasons.
  13. https://snjtoday.com/video-mike-trout-lifts-south-jersey-familys-spirits-house-fire/ Millville native and Major League Baseball star of the Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout heard of the DeSimone’s situation and stopped by for a Christmas Eve visit. “Your house burns down,” said Barbara Desimone. “You don’t have anything for Christmas and all these people are giving, giving, giving. Then bam! Mike Trout comes. It’s like Santa Claus arrived.” Trout came bearing gifts for the children and Barbara says he provided comfort in their time of need. “Especially, you know, you see how a lot of stars are in this day and age; they don’t remember where they came from,” said Tony Desimone. “But Mike, he’s a true ambassador of Major League Baseball. He remembers where he came from and he really helps the people in this area.”
  14. No. 46 all-time in doubles is no slouch. Top-50 of all players to play big league ball. Pretty awesome achievement.
  15. The Angels picked that guy twice. He sucked. They probably would have picked Mathis twice, too, if they'd had the chance.
  16. I think the Heyward contract with the opt out was probably the ideal situation considering that his offensive numbers have been rather pedestrian to this point so it's a pretty good gamble that in three years he should be well in line for a bigger contract. If you don't want to be on the hook for the rest of that money, you just let him walk. (This is all contingent, of course, on whether or not he was even interested in playing for the Angels, of course.)
  17. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/marlins-to-re-sign-jeff-mathis.html Another $1.5MM deal from Miami. Only played in 32 games last season. After 2016, he'll have earned nearly $12MM over parts of 12 big league seasons.
  18. I will interject the following: Brendan Donnelly, Ben Weber, and David Eckstein were all claimed off waivers. You never know...
  19. Automatically moves to No. 4 on the Angels prospect list.
  20. How many sure things on this roster? Guys where you can write down numbers and come pretty darn close to predicting what they'll do. 1. Mike Trout 2. Cole Calhoun (and that's based on two seasons; hardly a given) 3. Yunel Escobar (and almost certainly significantly below what he did last season) 4. Joe Smith 5. Huston Street I think that's about it. Pujols is a huge question mark, as is every one of the starting pitchers. When only five of the 30 or so guys who are going to cycle through are bankable, there are far too many variables to believe the team can compete — even if they do bring in one more bat.
  21. Escobar 3B Nava LF Trout CF Calhoun RF Cron DH Navarro 1B Simmons SS Perez C Giavotella 2B Facing Jake Arrieta and the Cubs. Woohoo!
