  1. Ferrell's WAR: 0.000001 Hamilton's WAR: 0.000000
  2. That's my biggest fear about Travis leaving 830. On any other L.A. station, he's just going to wind up talking Lakers 90 percent of the time like every other L.A. sports talk host.
  3. You don't have to buy it. I'm just reporting what I've heard from somebody extremely familiar with their working relationship.
  4. The producer isn't on the air; he's in his ear. And the show is carefully planned beforehand. Look, I'm not saying Jim Rome doesn't have talent or bring his own personality to the job; I'm just saying that I know first hand from a person who was integrally involved with the show they did together that Travis was the driving force behind it and that the "takes" were far more often than not Travis', not Rome's.
  5. Travis Rodgers is not a Jim Rome clone, guys. Quite the opposite. There's a reason he reminds people of Rome and that is because Rome patterned his style and presentation after Rodgers. Everything that came out of Rome's mouth was put there by Rodgers. I can only imagine how much it must bother him to have people believe the opposite. Anyway, this sucks. I listen to Travis every morning. His show is great.
  6. This is the most the words "Hamilton" and "offense" have been used together on this board for a couple of years.
  7. Sure seems to explain why he seemed so ostracized from his teammates at the end of the season. Maybe nobody wanted anything to do with him.
  8. Trout is less than two months older than Bedrosian. Math, people.
  9. My 10-year-old daughter was giving me sh*t for wearing my throwback Hamilton t-shirt during her brother's LIttle League (Angels) scrimmage last night. I could only agree with her.
  10. "Critics have said that I am lazy, that I am not working hard; that picture caught me at a bad angle. But once again, let them say whatever they want to say. I will prove who I am on the field and show Boston fans how hard I am working to be a champion with this team, too."
  11. Which free agents signed by the Angels delivered the most bang for their buck, came closest to being worth the money, and/or became a fixture of the team's history? Vlad and Bobby Grich come immediately to mind. And Torii Hunter was solid all five years he was here. Who else?
  12. It's No. 16 on our list, Jeff. I think part of the issue with that one, however, is that very few probably even saw it. It was on the road, final game of a mediocre 81-81 season. And with the way games were televised back then (i.e. sparingly), there's a chance this one wasn't even on (though it probably was considering it was on a Sunday afternoon). And it's not attached to a great player like Nolan Ryan or Vlad Guerrero. Mike Witt was a very good pitcher, but he's hardly celebrated in baseball lore. All of that said, damn straight it's one of the greatest games in Angels history. Outside of our list, however, you just don't ever see/hear much about it.
  13. Jeff, Almost all the games people are mentioning in this thread are included here: http://angelswin.com/greatest_moments.aspx Can't wait to read your article!
  14. Are we comparing his body split split seconds between photos? He looks fatter in the one on the right. ;-)
  15. I got, as they say, a life. ;-) I'll still defend when I feel it's appropriate, but good lord do I dislike the Josh Hamilton signing now. It's the worst acquisition of that bunch. And at least the other guys seemed to try/care. They still sucked, but did so with good intentions. I don't know what Hamilton is doing.
  16. Perry went in wearing a Giants cap, but used to wear a jersey to events with the logo of every team for which he played.
  17. Article about this very subject: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/family-647780-mead-furniture.html
  18. I love that clip of his triple against the Rangers. How else to celebrate a triple than to touch Adrian Beltre's head? Awesome.
  19. I'm pretty sure he gets in. Maybe not first ballot, but he hit for average and power and had an absolute cannon in right field. .318 career average, almost 2,600 hits (almost 1,000 of those for extra bases), 449 HRs, 1,496 RBI and 11 straight seasons of batting at least .300 with at least 25 HRs. Vlad was one of the best of all time, without question.
  20. Time for a personal services contract and an Angels Hall of Fame ceremony to change his mind. Otherwise we're going to have to wait 20-plus years until Trout has been retired for five seasons until this franchise has a cap in the HOF.
  21. I submit to you one of the greatest anomalies in baseball history, the 1992 Angels: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CAL/1992.shtml How, at the advent of the "Steroid Era," could a team be led in home runs by Gary Gaetti's 12 and Chad Curtis' 10?
