I wonder at what round they finally don't take a college pitcher. I don't think they'll just keep doing so through 20 rounds, but I don't know.

I like everything I'm reading or hearing about these first five college pitchers. I don't know how they will develop but it feels like the right thing to do.

Last time we selected 5 pitchers to open a draft was 2014 and it didn't go so well for Dipoto - Sean Newcomb and Jake Jewell are the only two to pitch in MLB.

we're gonna save some money by going with college guys through round 5 so it wouldn't surprise me if we start going the HS route now.

I bet they chase some catchers.   Otherwise they will be signing every catcher that wasn't drafted.

Not sure.  I know they gave some players an extra year of eligibility because of Covid, but Rocker is listed as a JR..  So, unless he's actually got two years left it's not like the Mets had to worry about him going back to school.   Maybe it's a PR move for them, no cluel.   But they basically just gave away 1.5 mil, in signing bonus dollars.

mentioned that earlier.  Bet we end up with at least 4 or 5.

Last two picks have been uninspiring -- at least from a MLB draft rankings perspective (which likely doesn't mean much at all). Still...hope a stud HS pitcher or catcher is coming soon
