  1. He’s the new C-Rod, unless something drastically changes. He’ll stick around for a few more seasons and then unceremoniously be gone.
  2. Good thing the Angels delayed Bachman’s start of the season to “manage his innings.” Everything related to Bachman has been moronic. The pick in the first place, moving him to the pen, Nevin overusing him in a short stint, “managing” his innings.
  3. That’s why it’ll be interesting to look back years from now. Some of the guys you mentioned appeared to stall out, but now are contributing (some in a big way). Hopefully that’ll be the same for guys who are currently scuffling. Neto, Schanuel, Moniak, Bachman, Paris, Kochanowicz, Mederos, etc.
  4. If any baseball player were to walk away from the money, Rendon checks a lot of the boxes. Retiring could mean him working out some deal a la Strasburg (although I don’t think Arte wants to defer money).
  5. Aging curves. Most players don’t hit free agency until their 30s, and most players start declining in their 30s.
  6. I’ll be interested to revisit this in 3, 5, 7 years from now. It’s also possible the Angels will be bad for the next half-decade plus because Perry made bad picks and ran a horrible player development program for 4 seasons.
  7. I honestly think he’s a serious injury or two away from retiring. Despite what people say, he’s clearly fed up with the injuries and out of answers.
  8. Of course he’s had restraints, but Perry has made poor decisions when he has been given the freedom to make his own decisions. It’s only fair to judge Perry on the things he is controlling, which is why I‘m not gonna blame him for things like the team only spending $30M this offseason or not trading Ohtani. Perry’s drafts, player development, and free agent signings have been poor overall. You think Arte told Perry to go spend $5M on Cisnero, Suarez, Plesac, and Kolarek? No, Perry chose to use $5M of his budget on those guys. You think Arte told Perry to draft Sam Bachman? No. We saw the picture of Perry scouting Bachman in-person. Perry and his staff made the pick. You think Arte told Perry to hire Joey Prebynski and all the people under the player development umbrella? No, it was Perry.
  9. Continuing to roster Suarez, in addition to the all the bad moves/decisions he's made mean he's awful. Yes, it's not just the Suarez thing. But the Suarez thing is another in the pile of bad decisions Perry has made.
  10. How, exactly, has Minasian improved the analytics? The guy he hired (Tamin) had conflict with Maddon and others in the org, then got shown the door at the end of last season.
  11. I you want to blame Perry, there’s plenty of things to blame him for. Blaming him for not trading a generational player when ownership prevented it is not one of those things.
  12. I think most everyone is ready to DFA Suarez. We’ll see if the guy who makes that decision agrees.
  13. We can add “continuing to roster Jose Suarez” to the laundry list of things that prove Perry is an awful GM.
  14. And because he doesn’t want to pay those people commensurate with the position/their experience.
  15. Gonna be fascinating to see Wash’s post-game presser, if Bally shows it. Interested to hear how he answers the Suarez question.
