I don't know that I'd actually burn things, but another toolsy OF is definitely not what I have in mind.

4 minutes x 8 = 32 minutes, so 7:32 Eastern at the earliest. But they haven't started yet, so I'm assuming the first pick is at 7:10ish, so 7:45?

Yeah I was going to ask, are we all just hoping for 1 of the 5 top pitchers?

Actually, I think this place will burn no matter what. There will be bitching and tears.

We need a pitcher, but hopefully the team drafts the best player regardless of position.

That's what I'm hoping. The conventional wisdom is "pick the best player available," but I think that has limits. Draftees tend to be clumps of value, so it is hard to determine who is better within a certain range. So I think the tiebreaker is, or should be, based upon need, or maybe if someone has a special feeling about a guy.

I mean, if Marcelo Mayer is available at #9, I'd take him over any pitcher, except possible Leiter, considering what will be available, I'd go for a pitcher. Jobe may even have the best stuff in the draft, from what I gather, but is riskier because he's prep.
