Prellar officially driving the off-season. That MFer knows his window of contention just opened, and he's built the strongest farm system in baseball, by A LOT. And what's more, he's willing to part ways with his precious prospects, an area where most GM's fall short.

The rest of baseball is worried about this, that and the other and in the mean time, Prellar is going out and trying to pull off Snell, Kim, Darvish and Contreras in a 48 hour span.

Total badass.

Jesus...I don't think their rotation is their area of need anymore. Why go after Darvish?

There's a chance Lamet's injury is worse than advertised.  He received PRP injections on his biceps this offseason.  That may or may not work, and he might need surgery if it doesn't work.

If they acquire Darvish, they have Snell, Darvish, Davies, Paddock, and ??, if Lamet is out.  If Lamet is healthy, then that's an amazing rotation.

Someone like Davies could be moved in the deal too. He’d fit a need for the Cubs - cheapish MLB SP with some control. Padres could surrender him.

Either in this thread, or the Bauer one I said there was no need to move on because the chips haven’t started falling yet.

Well now they’re falling and the Angels need to make their moves. With Snell and likely Darvish off the board; we need a commitment from Bauer or a trade set in place.

Still much too early to try to determine the competitive landscape for next season.  Most big free agents have yet to sign

This is a different year.

Never, eeever, have so many stayed unsigned at the end of December.

Collusion?   Or worried about spending money for 2021-22?

All I know is, the Halos are status quo from 2020.    One Iglesias (vs Simba) brings down the WAR by 1-2, and the other Iglesias brings up the WAR by 1-2.   Obviously, that doesn’t work for 2021.

Hat tip to the Padres for that trade.  We couldn't have beaten that offer.  Patino is a top 10 prospect in the sport, and it took more than just him to secure the deal.

We would have likely had to have given up Adell, Marsh, Detmers, or something along those lines.  Padres gave up a 60 FV pitcher, a 45 FV pitcher, a 45 FV catcher, and a current MLB catcher - their 2nd, 9th, and 10th prospects in an absolutely stacked farm system.

The Padres overpaid, IMO, but when you have as many prospects as the Padres do, you can probably do things like this without a problem if it means it increases your chances to win a title.

No way they get Bauer though, IMO.  The Padres will never be a top payroll team, and they likely can't afford to add both Snell and Bauer in the same offseason.  Instead, they'll probably try to use their prospect depth to make more deals for cost-controlled players.

Like Marquez, Castillo, or Gray?

Just gotta find a team that needs OF prospects, maybe a SS prospect, and probably MLB-ready CIF/SP depth (Barria, Thaiss) and/or salary relief that fits our needs.
