That's kinda odd. We didn't add a third meal to our pets' routine. Are these people giving them a bunch of treats or something?

You would think by being home more they would be taking them for a walk more often.

Maybe it's more table scraps since more people are eating at home.

I have sneezing and runny nose as of this morning.  I know gross.  I ventured out for the first time this weekend and even went by the kids house.  We sat in the courtyard area apart but the pool looked like the Ozarks gone crazy.  Terrible traffic there and back meant nobody was indoors. There is a good chance I may already be vid ridden.  Thank you for your concern though.   Have an extra swab I can borrow.

Around mid-May many southern states allowed restaurants to re-open.

That spike would have kicked off 7-10 days later. I think the spike is due to increased testing and mostly asymptotic cases. However if you are looking for a major spreader event, these riots fit the profile. Don’t discount the 15 funerals of me Floyd.

It's too early to determine the outcome of Sweden's chosen path as how it plays out for them along with every other country is a long term question.  Sweden is currently at ~459 deaths per 1,000,000 people which is lower than Illinois which is at ~466 per 1,000,000 people.  In the short term Sweden's rate will climb but the question is what their numbers look like a year or two out vs. the rest of the world and what it costs each countries economy.  The only way to reach herd immunity is for the virus to work it's way through a herd and apparently the closest place to that is one of the hardest hit regions in Italy:

No one wants to see a situation in the US like parts of Northern Italy saw but whether you reach herd immunity fast or slow the only way to get there is by enough people producing antibodies.

When we drove through Arizona in April, it was striking to see how non-seriously they were taking the virus. This recent news doesn't surprise me.

Where I live in Arizona we have very little here. It's mainly in old people's facilities. But, we aren't really set up to test everyone.

No panic here at all.

But with the Laughlin casinos opening up the California people might bring it here.

I'm already thinking of taking my cooties to Vegas.  More so if LA shuts down back to stage 0 or 1 like it's looking like.

You should be comparing Sweden to Norway and Denmark instead of Illinois; I agree somewhat that it's too soon, but the consensus seems to be that it was a bad idea.

I compared it to Illinois to point out how ridiculous it is to claim that Sweden has failed when there's areas with similar sized populations that have higher death rates.  Sweden's death rate is higher than Norway and Denmark right now but we won't know the true impacts across the globe until this plays out long term.  Trying to make assumptions about where any country is at right now is like claiming 20 games into a baseball season that the team with the best record will end up with the most wins.
