Coronavirus relief bill contains nearly $12 billion in questionable spending

President Trump signed the more than $2 trillion coronavirus relief package on Friday and said it would help American workers across the country -- but the bill also includes millions for items unrelated to the pandemic.

Fox News counted them up and found nearly $12 billion in spending that has a tenuous or disputed connection to the emergency.

The final bill includes:

  • $10,804,687,000 for international development
  • $350,000,000 for refugee resettlement
  • $93,000,000 Congress ($25 million of which is for "salaries and expenses")
  • $75,000,000 for PBS stations
  • $75,000,000 for the National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities
  • $75,000,000 National Endowment for the Humanities
  • $50,000,000 for the Institute of Museum and Library Services
  • $25,000,000 for the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts
  • $7,500,000 for the Smithsonian Institution

Critics slammed those provisions of the bill.

“It shouldn’t be stuffed full of Nancy Pelosi’s pork -- including $25 million for the Kennedy Center, grants for the National Endowment for the Humanities and Arts, and millions more for other measures that have no direct relation to the Coronavirus Pandemic,” tweeted Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., the lone congressman who tried to force a roll call vote that would have delayed the bill.

25 mill to congress, eh?

Unreal. While its cool to see things like the arts get some love, this isnt even close to being the time for it.

Cat becomes first known feline to test positive for COVID-19: report

A cat in Belgian has tested positive for the coronavirus after catching the potentially deadly bug from an infected owner, officials said Friday.

The sick pet in Liège tested positive after showing classic symptoms of COVID-19 — including difficulty breathing — a week after its owner first fell sick, health officials told a press conference, the Brussels Times reports.

Woman who licked toilet in 'coronavirus challenge' admits she 'lied'

An aspiring influencer has explained her “coronavirus challenge” stunt was because she was so desperate for attention she allegedly staged herself licking a toilet seat “for clout.”

Ava Louise, a multiple Dr. Phil guest, and struggling influencer – she has 175K followers on Instagram, and around 9,500 on Twitter – spoke to the TV therapist via a Zoom video conference session, claiming to have created “fake news” with her viral toilet seat prank.

China promotes bear bile as coronavirus cure

China has been promoting bear bile as a coronavirus treatment, upsetting wildlife activists.

In a list published earlier this month, China’s National Health Commission recommended a number of treatments for the symptoms of the virus, including both traditional Chinese and Western remedies.

The treatment is an injection called Tan Re Qing (TRQ), which is a traditional Chinese medicine formula. In addition to bear bile powder, the injection uses goat horn and dried fruit.

The injection can help to alleviate respiratory distress, particularly in cases of pneumonia and bronchitis. One of the major symptoms of the coronavirus is a dry cough and difficulty breathing.

If you are an "aspiring influencer" or "struggling influencer" then it's safe to say that you are a loser

The way bear bile is extracted basically tortures bears, and there has never been any scientific findings to prove that bear bile actually has positive, healing effects on humans. It's based on a Chinese superstition.

Exactly! Everyone with a brain knows rhino horn or tiger penis is the way to go

From the Washington Post

134 people have died in NY from covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Some other numbers from NY

Even with the state’s death toll now at 519, which is more than a third of deaths nationally, Cuomo warned a possible apex in the state was still about 21 days away. About 44,000 people in New York have tested positive and about 6,000 are currently hospitalized.

If you assume exponential growth over 21 days we are talking about hundreds of thousands dead before those 21 days are up.

B.S.

The only way to cure diseases spread by animals that we have no business eating is to inject ourselves with BILE (lol, wtf) from other animals! Duh!

Also, i believe the chinese that eating powdered rhino horns probably makes you the black m dude with the big dick meme.

From the Washington post

Confirmed U.S. coronavirus-related deaths doubled in two days, hitting 2,000 on Saturday evening, based on reporting from state health departments.

It took about a month from the first confirmed death for the United States to record 1,000, but the toll has risen rapidly, and officials say the worst is yet to come. The earliest death was announced in Washington state on Feb. 29.

The sharp rise in fatalities comes as the pandemic’s epicenter has shifted to the United States, where reported infections are approaching 120,000
