...a deal to keep the Angels in Anaheim through 2050, per Bill Shaikin on Twitter. They’ll purchase the stadium and surrounding parking lots.

Can't happen based on MLB rules regarding state monikers with multiple teams in the state.

Fantastic news, and a world of possibilities now that the club owns it all.
That having been said the next person that even suggests this club doesnt have money for the on field product gets the hose...

The report came out iirc about a decade ago. Existing teams such as the Rangers were grandfathered.

if he's correct, then i would assume they were grandfathered. probably was true of the angels until they gave that up by voluntarily changing their name. all of that assuming he was correct.
