Eh. Shoulder injuries, only one good year, over 30...wouldn’t have been upset if we added him but I he’s just clog up the roster with another SP question mark.

I still think Eppler intends on swinging a trade before Opening Day for someone with some upside and/or durability, just waiting for the price to come down on whoever is on the menu.

I still think he finds the right guy like Boyd's price drops and he deals Adams and Rengifo. Pair him up with maybe signing Stroman next year and the rotation becomes a top 5 in the league come 2021. (per fangraph). Adding Boyd this year will get us in the playoffs and around the middle of the pact for pitching.

Can you imagine the havoc if there was a Angels Dodgers WS?  lol

I’m just pissed that they have us losing to Jeter’s rebuilding Marlins. That would truly be an epic fail on our organization for that to happen.

IDK man with all the kids they been getting a la Astros/Cubs for a few years of being really awful, at some point you gotta think they will be pretty good.

You're "pissed" and complaining about an "epic fail" that hasn't happened and is nothing other than a made up scenario..

Dodgers sign Jimmy Nelson and Eppler whiffs on another starting pitcher that likely could've helped this team.

People are mocking you, but I agree 100%.  Nelson was a legitimate top 10 pitcher in the league in 2017, and only cost $1 million.  I would’ve easily doubled it, that’s nothing for a guy who has previously shown the ability to be a top of the rotation starter.

He’s had exactly one good year. Otherwise he’s been pretty average and suffered some shoulder injuries which tend to derail careers.

No real loss. We can find better and safer in trade.

It's not a loss, but at that price, it could have been a win.  I mean, even if he went bust after 80 innings at that price it was worth it.

For sure, I wouldn’t have been upset if we signed him but not gonna be bummed or upset we missed out. The volume of arms we have right now is sufficient - if we add anyone, they need to bring some legitimate durability or significant upside, likely both. Nelson doesn’t seem any better an arm to add to the mix than Felix Pena.

Yeah, like I said, I wouldnt term it a loss but it's not Harvey for 11 mil.   If you're going to bet on a guy that used to be good returning to form, 1 mil is chump change.

Jimmy Nelson had two good years, not one, is a former top prospect and appeared well on his way in developing into an ace before the shoulder injury. He returned and it looks like the velocity is all the way back or close to it.

For 1 million dollars, you're betting on him returning to form.

And yet everyone here is on Alex Wood's jock because he might return to form, and Wood is said to be seeking a 3 year deal.

So yeah, Jimmy Nelson at 1/1 is a whiff, particularly when the alternative at this point is Jaime Barria, Pat Sandoval or Jose Suarez, all of which could use time in AAA.

1 million risk on upside. Better than 8 million on Allen and 25 million on Harvey and Cahill.

Shut the fuck up Scotty you unwashed asshole.

Jimmy Nelson is a worthless signing to this organization.

You need to go outside, get some fresh air, maybe take a relaxing walk through the park, and then go home, bake some cookies, and then shove a bowling ball up your ass.

I agree with the premise that 1 million for a pitcher like Nelson is not a bad deal. It definitely won't hurt the team that signs him for that. But to say we whiffed is a bit dramatic. There is a reason he is getting that kind of deal and it's because he's coming off serious injuries and hasn't really been good other than one year, before the injuries. Wood is on another planet than Nelson and everyone knows it. It's unfair to put those two in the same category. Wood is still also younger than Nelson. I wasn't aware Wood was seeking a three year deal. If that's the case, he can take a hike, but I never read that anywhere.

Not really.

Sorry I meant 2013 not 2014. But I would gladly take a low 4 era pitcher. Especially on the cheap. But truth be told. I've never heard the name Jimmy Nelson before so I had no clue who this person was till I googled it.
