btw . . .

you're obviously part of the problem, not the solution.

hypocrite.

Just because you post a lot does not translate to the stupid sh.. you say as being correct.

You give so many people on this message board crap.

I tried giving you a way out and instead of calling you a dipsh... I tried to be nice about it. Next time I will just tell you the truth that your baseball IQ is low.

I thought about that, too (machado). Him at 3B would be huge. But...as much as I like him, the reason I would lean towards Harper is Machado is going to cash in this winter.

Harper is unique (IMO). Its his FA year, but hes having a not bryce Harper year. I think he would be more willing to do a short deal to try and bring his hype back up, and bail in 2 years. In fact I wont be surprised at all if he signs a similar deal to stay with the Nats to do just that.

The other idea is to hold off and wait for Arenado. The problem with that (off the top off my head) is who knows if he wants to play here, whos ready to outbid for him (or stay a rock), and last but not least....its another year of trout playing alone.

If trout leaves it wont be for the money. I think we really need to start showing him good times as an Angel. Another year like this and he may end up making his mind before we even get to his FA year.

I think hed be pumped if we got Harper. And I think Harper hitting behind Trout would appeal enough to Harper for him to consider coming here on a short deal.

One benefit of going for Machado is that he won’t cost us a compensation pick.  Which would essentially be a 2nd round pick.  For the Angels all of these picks are still very important.  We trying to restock from years of fucked up drafting.

Anyway, fun to hope for either.  I do think that Harper is getting his massive deal right now though, I don’t think he’s settling because of the low BA this year.

No. It felt good to be honest and tell him that his baseball acumen is not very good.

Honestly I do not think on the surface he would accept that statement anyways. He seems to have a lot of layers of ego going on. Which is probably good. I really do not want to hurt him or his feelings.

The only other thing I think might help us is that Harper's market is smaller than I think anyone was expecting over the last few years. The fat cat teams like the skanks and bosox are pretty set in the outfield, and have their own money "problems". Ive been thinking the last year or so the dodgers would be all over him, but if they try and keep machado...

After that, aside from the cubs (who have been linked to him), i cant think of too many other teams who can both afford him and/or would even make sense to try.

To Griffey’s Corner, I loved your post and you are correct about everything that you said. the offense is suck, total impotent, the offense need some miracle Viagra and not sure that even that will work. I knew that they had a bad numbers against Verlander but still was surprised to read that the average against him is.102 according to web article of ESPN staff writer. verlander is a good pitcher as far as pitch location on the plate but at the same time his ball doesn’t move that much over the plate like Madison Bumgarner for instance, the average should have Been higher than .102 !  I think that they should take the entire roster and send them down to the minor for at least 2 weeks so that way they will get the groove back, might sounds crazy but it could be affective. Mike Scioscia become a liability too !

Hey @Griffey's Corner if this is your biggest fan, then I am thinking you should never call into question someone else’s baseball acumen.

I'm glad that someone finally figured out that the offense is suck.

Cozart has alternated between good and bad.  Last year wasn’t entirely a fluke, he’s had solid seasons other then last year. This year he comped with his poorer years.  I think there is reasonable potential for improvement.  He’s older but not that old.

You do realize he will be a year older. Coming off a season ending injury. And not playing baseball for almost a year. But sure he is gonna be fantastic next year.

Here’s what I would do for next year:

Closer/bullpen:  get a closer, a real one. So it’s a choice of trade or sign one as I don’t know of a great prospect in the system that will impact next year.  If it’s going to be a trade then I’d be ok with trading two of the current controllable guys to offset it but if it’s going to be a signing, then trade one because I’m thinking of a closer that would require draft pick compensation.  I think we move the talent forward if possible.  So sign Kimble and pay the compensation but move one of the guys that wouldn’t pass through waivers for someone (or two) that could.  We need more than a few relievers better (and optionabe) than what we have and if Otahni pitches next year we need extra flexibility.  I’d so like to have a good bullpen for the next couple of years.  No Otahni as closer.

Starters:  this is the tough call for me, but I’d say just sign a mid-level starter that wouldn’t cost a draft choice.  I’d be looking for young guys in trade but really this rotation needs at least one new starter than can pitch at least 170-180 innings in the low 4s era. That means someone that pitches 150-160 innings or more this year.  We’d all love an ace but that’s not the way I would go.  I see the organizational depth in starters as a strength as they will both good and be optionable- Canning and company.  I think Barria will be solid next year, avoiding the sophomore slump.  I also agree with many here that point to short starts impacting the bullpen which is why I’d go for a sturdy guy. I’d like to see, as has been suggested, Richards signed to a two year rehab contract.

Offense:  gotta pay for a 3b that can hit in the middle of the order unless the price for Realmuto is better.  Of course the youngsters will get some time but we can’t just leave it to that.  This could be a mid-season acquisition but I’d just go do it.  If the best deal is RF ok but I’m holding on Calhoun unless he tanks again.

Leadoff:  I was ambivalent about Dee Gordon last off-season.  If I had it to do again... but that’s not how it works.  I wanted Cezar Hernandez and still think that’s a great fit.  We have five players in the top100 prospects so it could be done.  I’m ok with Cozart as a super sub, I would go for Hernandez before Realmuto but definitely see a major trade in the offseason and hope it’s for one of the two.

Why do you guys do this?  Why do you go to such an extreme?  What does that do for conversation?  He says he will be better than last year, you disagree, so you say sarcastically, “sure he is gonna be fantastic next year”.

He won’t be better next year what makes u think he will be better. He has a anomaly year “steroids” on his contract year. Came here after he signed his last “big” contract he is going to be a year older. And coming off a season ending injury. How did this year give you or anyone the idea he will be better next year than this year. Similarly Upton is probably on the downside of his career. Pujols isn’t getting better the older and more injured he gets. Take off the fandom glasses and just be real with yourself.
