In all honesty, yes trumbo is a flawed player. His slumps are bad. But for the money he gets paid, id still take him here, just not batting 3-5. But his pop from the 6 hole is pretty legit.

Thing is the Angels already got those cheap years out of him.  He made 4.8 mil last year and put up a negative 1.1 WAR, this year he's in line for a raise to around 5.7 mil.  I'm assuming he will rebound this season but its safe to say the Angels already got the absolute most value they could have ever hoped for out of Trumbo, both from his production and the future production of the players the Angels were able to obtain for him.

His power is impressive, his ability to make outs isn't.

Mets Discussing Dillon Gee With Rangers, Others

By Mark Polishuk [December 9, 2014 at 9:31pm CST]

9:31pm: Up to six teams are interested in Gee, MLB Network Radio’s Jim Duquette reports (hat tip to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News).

8:54pm: The Mets and Rangers are discussing a possible trade that would send right-hander Dillon Gee to Texas, FOX Sports’ Jon Paul Morosi reports (Twitter link). The Rangers were said to be preparing to talk to the Mets about Gee (and Jon Niese) yesterday. While the two sides have talked, however, “nothing is close on that front,” according to The Record’s Matt Ehalt (Twitter link).

With the Rangers looking for rotation upgrades and the Mets shopping their veteran arms, the two teams seem like a good match as trade partners. Gee is a Texas native and played his college ball in Arlington, so a trade to the Rangers would be a virtual homecoming for the 28-year-old. MLBTR’s Matt Swartz projects Gee will earn $5.1MM in 2015 via his second trip through the arbitration process, and he’s controllable through the 2016 season. Gee has posted a 3.91 ERA, 2.26 K/BB rate, 6.5 K/9 and 45.6% grounder rate over his 639 2/3 career innings (all with the Mets).

Sub 100 ERA+ pitcher in the NL, in a pitcher's park.   Would love to see him pitching in Arlington.

Agreed on Trumbo IP. I just wish we had another power guy in the lineup to back up trout. Pujols has been fine (imo) but hamilton obviously hasnt. We are pretty decent throughout the lineup, but i would love to have at least one more mid 20's home run guy in there. Then again i also wouldnt mind a speedy leadoff guy to move everyone down a spot (with trout hitting 3rd).

Lol. You sound like a chick, a new baseball fan, or an old man.

I didn't take it personally, old man. Maybe in 20-30 years from now (if you're still around), you won't judge hitters only on HR's and RBI's.

you come off like a low class shit.

Point being is that Trumbo is far from mediocre as you say.

I never commented on Trumbo in this thread. Although, I agree mostly with the poster that made that comment. I was just tired of you keep bringing up hr's and RBI's to judge a players hitting ability (year after year). I should've just laughed and not commented anymore.

Excuse me? I wasn't talking to you. Mind your own business. You come off looking stupid for making that comment.

you posted on a public message board.  you can disagree with him and not make it personal.

TD may have his own agenda and some interesting opinions, but he keeps it clean.

For those who asked about Beachy and Medlen, sounds like the Angels aren't interested because it would require an investment of not insignificant money and a roster spot. There are too many teams that would like them so they can't be had for a non-roster invite with no guarantee (like Mulder).

Dipoto said the Angels have 10 starters and can't go around giving away spots or guaranteeing money for injured guys.

Nor should they. I was against these two being signed anyway, especially Medlen and his two TJ surgeries in a little over three years. It's like they'd be running a M*A*S*H outfit.
