Beane did well to get Semien. Should help mitigate the loss of Addison Russell.

 

 

going from a future SS of addison russell to a much bleaker future of marcus semien for a half season of nothing still isn't a good trade. beane ****ed his team long term in the last 6 months.

Honestly, if the A's don't get Tim Anderson in the deal from Chicago, I'd be surprised

 

that current return just doesn't really look that appealing. NOt a fan of Semien

White Sox To Acquire Jeff Samardzija

11:28am: Josh Phegley and Rangel Ravelo are headed to Oakland in the trade, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com tweets. A minor league arm is going back to the White Sox.

11:18am: An announcement is expected within the hour, Slusser adds.

11:14am: There will actually be four players heading from the Sox to the A’s, Slusser reports (Twitter links). It appears that the second player departing from Oakland is not currently on the MLB roster.

It’s official: the White Sox and Athletics have agreed to a deal that sends Jeff Samardzija back to Chicago, though this time with the South Siders. Righty Michael Ynoa is going with him in return for infielder Marcus Semien, righty Chris Bassitt, Josh Phegley and Rangel Ravelo.

The Angels have at least a little interest in Red Sox infielder Brock Holt, Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston tweets. After non-tendering Gordon Beckham, the Angels are on the lookout for a backup infielder, and GM Jerry Dipoto has said that a trade for one is a possibility. Holt would be a good get for the Angels — he hit a solid .281/.331/.381 last season while playing seven positions. Here’s more from the American League.

Wouldn't mind Holt

Jeff Fletcher said the Angels are interested in Holt, but there's 3 or 4 guys that they prefer over Holt in a utility role.

They must be pretty good utility guys, because Holt was a bit of a catalyst for the Red Sux in the 1st half (albeit falling off to a mid .500s OPS after the ASB), not to mention playing all 7 non-battery positions in 2014.

Just my opinion, but I think Green is a 2B only, and a bit of a defensive liability at the other positions he plays.

The former Dodgers and Twins backup. Conger is a better hitter. Even Mathis is a better hitter than him. His CS% sucks.
