Missouri is optional. I don't know or remember if it has changed, but it also used to be that you pumped gas first then paid.

It is.  I live in Washington near the border (we pump our own gas) and it always catches me off guard on the rare occurrence when I go to pump in Oregon.  They get upset if you try to pump your own gas in Oregon.

Don't get me wrong, I like the air as it is now.

Do we need to continue to increase the gas taxes when the air is already clean enough?

Just maintain as is, and don't let it regress.

I filled up for $38 the other day, which is fine by me. That seems to be in line with inflation, given that I paid about $20 to fill up 20 years ago.

Of course, I don't expect gas prices to stay this low for very long.

All the stations here in KC work the same as in CA. Pay first, then pump. But more rural places in both MO and KS often let you pay after you fill up.

1.99 gas is at some Arcos and Costcos in Whittier/Norwalk area. According to Gasbuddy, the special blend for local gas has seen a big time price drop which is pulling our gas prices closer to the national average.

And there were people at the pump. Meanwhile, a mile and a half away, ARCO is at 2.37.

Meanwhile my brother is paying roughly $1.15 in Denver. My Sister is paying roughly $1.10 in OKC. My parents are paying roughly $1.35 in New Orleans.

This is getting too low and the oil companies will probably counter with $4 gas soon.

 

Why can't they just adjust about $2-2.25 a gallon and everybody is happy and leave it there? Oil companies still make their money and we have reasonable priced gas.
