  1. As evidenced by consistency of pitching injuries, we all know that a MLB staff has to begin any season with 8-10 arms that can be thrown into the fray. Anderson was not the free agent we wanted, but was the one we could afford. He gave our rotation a floor. He also allows for some of the younger guys to not be rushed, which was also a point suggested by the OP. We need/needed both of these qualities that Anderson brings.
  2. If we could do a bundle of trade-backs, say to Atlanta from #5 to #8, then from #8 to #14 with Saints, then to #20 with Pitt, we could procure a minimum of one additional pick in the 2nd, maybe 2 in the third. I'd be super stoked if we could build up the offensive line with tackle Taliese Fuaga in the 1st and center Jackson Powers-Johnson at #37 in the second. Then, with an additional second from Atlanta, take WR McConkey. With the 3 thirds, you can potentially grab a RB (J. Brooks, Braelen Allen, Estime), IDL, LB, CBs. Ideally, we come out of the 4th round with 7 or 8 new guys to add to the squad that the new regime can coach up. I think there are 12-14 guys in the early part of round 1 that teams might consider moving up for. Lots of guys at 5 obviously, 2 WRs, a TE, probably all the OT's (Alt, Fashanu, etc), CBs (Kool Aid, Arnold, maybe Mitchell if he keeps rising), the edges start getting traction in the early double digits (Turner, Latu) too. And that doesn't even build in if one of the coveted QB's fall OR if someone really falls in love with Daniels or McCarthy. Of course we could use any/all of these guys minus the QBs, but we need quantity as much as quality and could really get some bang for the buck sliding back and collecting later picks.
  3. I love the glory muscles...so grabbing a Nabers, Odunze or Bowers, but wonder if this is the year to trade back and get a few extra picks in the 2nd-4th rounds. If we moved back into the low 20's, we could draft linemen (O or D), CB, edge; less exciting but might be more prudent in the long run. If Herbert has more time, could exploit an opposing D with a speedy later WR like Tank Dell from last years draft. With an additional 2nd rounder, maybe steal Ladd McConkey from Georgia.
  4. Putting together a solid staff with HC Jim Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz from the Ravens. Can't wait for the draft and see them not fuck it up.
  5. Dominated the ugly blue paint last night vs. Indiana. AD was a beast. Couldn't quite shake the pesky Pacers and won despite only hitting ONE three pointer all game and that one came in the final minute of the third quarter. Fun watching Reddish and Davenport hound whoever they were assigned or switched on, primarily Haliburton. Reaves was money with a big first half. Gotta admit that I was whatever initially when I heard about this tournament. Ultimately, I enjoyed it and it gave us a little preview of who might step up for the actual playoffs in 5 months. Really like what I'm seeing from Cam Reddish and this game kinda solidified that.
  6. With the team getting up to full strength, our defense has improved significantly. IST finals tonight vs. Indiana, highest scoring team in NBA. Great test to see if we can shut them down with Vando and Reddish closing out the shooters.
  7. New season begins tonight in Denver. Tough place to play/win. I like the look of the team to start off the 23/24 season. Can play Point Guard: DLo, Austin, Vincent, Lebron, Hood-Schifino Can play Shooting Guard: DLo, Austin, Vincent, Prince, Christie, Reddish, Vanderbilt Can play Small Forward: Prince, Rui, Austin, Christie, Reddish, Vanderbilt, Lebron Can play Power Forward: Prince, Rui, Reddish, Vanderbilt, Lebron, AD, Wood Can play Center: AD, Hayes, Wood, Castleton There is a large amount of lineup flexibility and depth where we could go small or tall, and potentially withstand some injuries. Shooters (DLo, Austin, Vincent, Prince, Christie, Rui) to fill in around Lebron, AD are a plus as well. Fun season ahead!
  8. Looking forward to the beginning of the pre-season this evening vs Golden State. We've got a deep squad with some interesting young and new guys coming on. Hopefully AD and Bron can have health this season, and when one or the other is out, that we've built the depth to withstand their absences.
  9. Has there ever been a significant free agent who was traded at the deadline for a big haul who then resigned with the original trading team in the winter? For example, Shohei being traded by the Angels and then resigning as a free agent with the Angels.
  10. Agreed. The best teams play well when it counts most, and that is what makes a champion. The Lakers have consistently not shown up in the 4th quarter against these Nuggets. Kudos to the Nuggets, they've earned their standing this season. Outside of Lebron, AD, Reaves and Rui, contributions from the remaining players in this series has been minimal. That isn't championship caliber. It has been a nice run, especially considering how we began the season and the roster turnover. Certainly gives me excitement moving forward to the draft and next season.
  11. Gotta say, the flopping and selling has gotten out of control. They should crack down on that shizz. If you flop, it's challenged, and they figure you out, should be a foul on the flopper. Regarding Thursdays game, we should have not deviated from the script. The plan of attack was working and put us in a great spot late into the 3rd quarter, and then for whatever reason Lebron went rogue. I wish they would stop helping AD on Joker. Stay home on the shooters and take what you get from single coverage on him.
  12. This one was all on Lebron. The multiple missed layups, dunks, and especially the worst decision making to take multiple three's when we had a larger lead and momentum, some piss-poor D at times too. That game was a W that Lebron just tossed away. Of course, I feel like AD is too inconsistent offensively in addition. Jocic is a solid defender, but he's not JJJ. Frickin' attack him.
  13. Hachimura also into the starting lineup over Schroeder should help too. Considering how well the Nuggets shot, I'll take the moral W in making it close at the end.
  14. The analysts don't like us. I haven't seen anyone picking us to beat the Nuggets, just like merely a few liked us to beat the Warriors or the Grizzlies before them. Have to hope for continued health, taking care of the ball, and not settling for long jumpers/running the clock out with no plan of attack. LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!!
  15. Strangest season ever as a Laker fan. At one point, this team was so frustrating to watch and seemed like a lottery team. Then, a flurry of trades and 1/2 the team is new. How does a roster turnover like this result in such success. This team is so fun to watch and root for. Western Conference championship here we go, Tuesday night vs. Nuggets. Jokic vs. AD should be amazing to watch!
  16. Sounds like Wiggins is dealing with some rib issue. Need to go hard at him, Lebron!
  17. Gotta get this Game 6 W tonight! I DO NOT want to go back to Golden State for a game 7. Git er' done, Lakers!
  18. Tons of credit to Darvin Ham to go with Lonnie Walker over DLo. And fantastic job to Walker to remain ready. That was Laker-lore right there!
  19. Game 4 tonight. I saw that teams that win the series leading game 3 after being tied 1-1 ultimately win the series 73% of the time. Going up 3-1 increases the likeliness to 90%. Keep the homecourt advantage and kick some GSW ass tonight.
  20. 2-1 series lead after the W last night. Great games from Lebron (eventually), DLo (especially right from the start) and AD (was a defensive force). Great team D! The flow of this game was choppy due to the stoppages for replays and technical foul shots, which definitely helps to throw GS off their rhythm. Enjoyed getting an extended look at Max Christie in the 4th.
  21. Lakers again open up a series with a pivotal game 1 W, possessing home court advantage now. Gave up too many 3's overall, especially in the first half, but even with that they led at the half. Always a good sign to have a team shoot well against but we still lead. I don't think we are a great matchup for the Warriors (unless AD can't play for some reason). They'll have to be super hot to win the series. Oh, and every chance you get, keep Looney off the boards.
