Howie Kendrick or Grant Green to Toronto Blue Jays?

What do you guys think?

Their starting 2B is out for pretty much the season and they have to turn to Ryan Goins to fill in.

I know it's too early to deal, but some times the best returns for your ball club are taking advantage of others needs.

We could probably pluck a damn good reliever or starting SP prospect (close) for either.

One thing is for certain, this club is rich in second baseman. Kendrick, Lindsey, Yarbrough and Green.

Thoughts?

Depends on what the return is. I wouldn't trade a starting player for a reliever unless the guy is lights out.

Ohhh this would be awesome. Stroman would be the guy to get obviously, though I wonder if they could even do it? He's the Jays top prospect. They are loaded with young arms though

 

hell, try to get 2 of them! Stroman and Tirado/DeJong/Labourt/Norris for Kendrick and some mid level spect or something

I'm a huge Howie guy, but if I could get a shut down reliever for him, someone that could close the door in the 7th, I would do it. It would also free up money.

Yeah, not a bright move tossing a MLB career .292 second baseman for a relief arm worth 1/3 his value. I get there is a collective dislike for Kendrick because you guys never seem to see him hit a ball when you want him to but really, just stop it, stop it!

I remember when the news broke we traded Rivera/Napoli to the Jays for an unknown player. I hoped it was Bautista. Sigh.

Disagree Eric and I'm a Howie fan. I've just seen too many times in the last couple years where we struggle to get to reliable relievers. This is also why I would start Shoemaker if we thought Santiago could be great in the 7th.

For the record, I don't see them dealing Howie at all this season, especially if the team is competing...but they absolutely need to be shopping him during the offseason. 2B is where they have depth in the minors. Need to deal from a strength to address a weakness(pitching depth both sp/rp). Just makes sense for this franchise going forward

I'm a huge Green fan, so trade howie for a starter.  If you trade your above average starting second baseman for a reliever, his last name better be kimbrel

Stroman or Sanchez would be great, though I've read that Stroman's upside is limited because of his height (he's only 5'10" or something like that).

If this team even considers trading Howie for just a reliever, I would insist on sending Dipoto to whatever team that is as well

 

If you can get a SP prospect AND a reliever for Howie though like others have said, I would do it. I doubt the Angels would anytime soon though.

I cringe at thinking how crappy we will be in the cactus league without Howie.

The difference between a 2 ERA reliever and 4 ERA reliever over the course of 50 innings is 11 runs. Howie should easily make up that difference and much more on Grant Green.

Kendrick could probably get us Loup and Daniel Norris.

 

I don't think Kendrick alone would land Stroman and certainly not Sanchez.
