Jeff Fletcher Predicts: Garza to Angels

Seriously don't get the dislike for Garza here.

For me, I would call it lack of enthusiasm and trepidation.  I don't like the injuries or the stats last season.  For me, it is just another big reach by the Angels hoping to get lucky.  If they do sign him, I sure hope they do get lucky and he ends up being a solid number 3.  I still don't think the pitching will be good enough for the team to get them to the playoffs.

He hasn't been very healthy Chuck and his record isn't that great.

His track record is just about on par with Anibal Sanchez, who everyone wanted last offseason. He's a solid #3, but the health concerns turn a lot of people off. If the Angels can get him on a 3 year deal, they should do it.

7 straight years with a sub 4.00 ERA. You cannot bring up W/L when talking about a player's value.

His stuff is lights out and a legit #2 when everything is working, plus he's still fairly young as pitchers go.

Even if he's never battled an arm injury, you're always at risk when signing or trading for a pitcher. They're a blown out elbow or torn labrum away from missing a year. Garza hasn't had a major injury to his arm, so I don't get the over the top concern here.

I'm guessing the 69 games he missed in 2012 with a right elbow injury and the 84 games he missed in 2013 with a right shoulder injury would be the reason for the concern.

Well, you certainly didn't get it from any of my posts.

Oh I'm not saying I did, just in general. There seems to be no interest or distaste in this guy, when in reality his stuff is better than anyone in our current rotation and he's got 7 straight years of a sub 4.00 ERA. That's a major accomplishment as a SP IMO. Someone I'd love to slide into our #3 spot.
