Man, if you would've told me Anthony Rendon would be an Angel last year, there's no way I would've believed you.  Yet here we are.

My five potential .900’s are Trout, Rendon, Ohtani, Adell, Upton... 

La Stella, Simmons, Fletcher, Goodwin, should all be .750-850 ish.

 

First Base article will be out soon (like within the next 3-4 days). Shortstop article is out tomorrow morning. I will say Smoak is an interesting target that would be easy on the pocketbook.

I think Thaiss could really sneak up on us, if given a chance.

Important to make a statement rather stay under the radar. This will help the brand, attendance and productivity on the field. And give stability to the heart of the order for years to come. Not bad. And probably still productive into the transition to the new stadium. 

Pitching doesn't have to be great, just good enough. Certainly there is opportunity for better moves than last year. 

The signal is clear that the Angels are serious.

From having Cozart as the starting 3B on opening day last year to Anthony Rendon. Slight upgrade IMO

I forget where I saw it (not sure if it was here on AW.com or on Twitter) but some managers were raving about Thaiss' defense at third down in one of those off-season leagues (not sure if it was the Dominican or somewhere else).

The Angels didn't get the best 7 WAR pitcher but they got the best 7 WAR hitter. That's a heck of a consolation prize!

Crazy how that works, eh?

A year ago right now, most of the board was in a civil war about whether trout would stay or go.

Going in to the offseason we were hoping for nolan A, or the inevitable moose signing.

Rendon was about as on the radar as .... any other random guy who wasnt available.

Reference the cole letdown.... yeah, it sucks, he was the perfect fit. But we were ready to stab each other last year, debating how much we needed to sign eovaldi and joe kelly....

Coles a beast. But sooo many big named SPs over the last few years have had problems... he would have been nice, but with the bad luck weve had on GAs this decade, this rendon deal feels "safer".

I think Trout should be in the 2 spot and Rendon protecting him. That seems optimal.
