This team is a pathetic sh** show.

Tip the cap.  Turn the page.  yawn.  you can only give the other team so much credit and blame injuries.

At some point someone has to acknowledge the lack of performance.

It's kinda ground hog day.  Starters leave early.  Pen gives up runs.  Offense can't hit with RISP.

We might not be a playoff team, but give us something.  anything.

It's been time to make changes for about a month now. At this point, might as well go full on tank.

Bat Valbuena leadoff and Marte 2nd

Marte is another one... wtf do they see in him other than the occasional homerun? He’s minor league filler at best for playoff clubs.

Just fucking release Valbuena.  It won’t solve anything, but if he is a big clubhouse favorite, maybe it will wake up some of these assholes and get them to understand this is a result based profession.

The season is already over. There's no point in keeping Valbuena around. Get rid of him, make Pujols a part-time DH with Ohtani getting the majority of DH ABs. Do something to get a spark.

They NEED to call up Suarez, Ward, Thaiss, and maybe even Rengifo to see if they have anything salvageable for next year... Valbuena, Marte, Blash, Kinsler, Pujols are not the answer for next year. At least they can get major league exposure and you go into the off season with a better picture of what needs you have.

The bullpen needs to be fixed without question. If Ward isn’t the 3rd baseman they need to find one. Cozart either needs to go to second or be the utility infielder rotating with Fletcher. Albert needs to be a pinch hitter on the bench if they aren’t going to buy him out of this contract. They need a legit first baseman, I don’t think Thaiss is that guy. They need a new bench, Marte, Blash, etc are not good enough. If possible an upgrade at C would be welcomed, Realmuto would be a huge addition to the offense. I’m happy with Briceno as a back up. I wouldn’t even blame them if they seeked an upgrade in RF after the season Calhoun had.

And a legit ace would be a huge addition to the rotation. We have a solid rotation so it doesn’t need much attention, depending on Ohtani’s elbow.

Needless to say... they aren’t looking to good for next year.

agree.  we keep hearing that they have a great bunch of guys.  how come that clubhouse mojo hasn't resulted in winning?

I know why.  a lack of talent.

The team just isn't very good. Eppler needs to accept this and rebuild as much as possible: shed anything he can: dump Valbuena, try to get something for Kinsler, trade the middle relievers, even field offers for Calhoun and Upton. Then play Fletcher, Fernandez, Thaiss, Rengifo and Ward. Give them some experience.

I know people want the team to compete during the Trout window, but I'd rather see the focus be on building for long-term success. Trout is more likely to stay if he sees a team on the cusp of being really good and getting better. Floating year to year with crappy patch jobs is just not cutting it.

Not gonna happen. That's too much of a rebuild for Moreno. Signals that they've given up. Hard to hit that iconic number of fans when you've thrown in the towel.

Would anyone be surprised if they finished 10-15 games under .500?

They're going to get their asses kicked by the A's, M's, and Astros a lot down the stretch here. It really is time to sell and try to get the highest draft pick we can. I hate giving up in July. It's miserable. I like it when they can at least make it interesting until September to bridge the gap more until hockey season. Now the next 2 months are just going to be sad.

Are you sure? I'm guessing all Arte cares about is revenue, and the feeling that the organization is going in a positive direction. Presumably he's smart enough to learn from his big mistakes (Wells, Pujols, Hamilton) and realize that when the boat is rotten you have to rebuild and not just patch.

That said, the major league team has some good parts that they can build around. With some canny moves this deadline and offseason, and some luck next year with health, the team can compete for a wildcard next year.

As long as they don't trade the future for the present. They don't have enough major league talent to do that. The only way this franchise becomes a powerhouse is with patience and building from within. It might yet be 3-4 years before they're a legit perennial contender.

Maybe he walks around the locker room giving BJs for a nickel, and has a guy who hands out nickels.

Stole that one from Greg Giraldo.  RIP Greg.

Holy shit, Gilbert! You look like you smell like pee.

What a night! A couple of trolls, a fairy, and a giant all going after a sunken-eyed little monster that's obsessed with jewelery. It's like The Lord of the Rings! (joan rivers roast)

I feel sorry for the people that go to the game and spend their hard earn money to see this fucked up worthless crap team. These players get a lot of money and don’t fucken care. You have fuckton who got a new contract and is not doing shit and should be sent down to the minors like Calhoun did and see if he can get his shit together,, just because you have a big contract you need to earn your position or send their ass down and bring up someone who really cares about their job and position. I served in the military and got injured defending our country and can’t work anymore for 500.00 dollars a month and I will never get anything like what they get millions of dollars and beautiful house like a castle and 3 or more car’s and I have a crap house and car. I’m tired of these loser’s that don’t care and just want their money.

Another probably controversial opinion...

Yes Valbuena needs to go, Kinsler should be traded (if any value can be found). However, if the team is to be serious about true competition with the prospects, it has to start with Pujols. He's not the best option at his position that this team has available, right now.

The talk of "showing respect for Pujols and his career and treating veterans the right way" is in complete contradiction to "why would Trout re-sign with a non-competitive team?"

If Trout values a chance at winning championships, he has to be willing to see the FO let respected, future HOF veterans that are just done go in favor of putting more talent around him. If he's more concerned with a tight knit baseball family win or lose, then he should be content with not fielding the best team possible and still re-sign because that's what he values.

This isn't an insult to Trout. It's more asking all to think which player you think he is, and then trying to understand FO decisions in that context.

He was the best roaster and his standup was great. My all-time favorite.
